A truly great day of sport all round!!
Silverstone F1, Wimbledon & Cricket WC. Plus... I started today in Majorca and got home to this !!!!! Agree that Seb is a shadow of the man we saw in a RB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The knock on Vettel whilst he was at RB was that he was a time-trialist: that if you stuck him at the front in a fast car without too much competition he would bang out lap after lap and run away from the pack. But it was also said by a few that he wasn’t so great if you stuck him in traffic and that he wasn’t the best overtaker. A lot of prominent people in the media, including the excellent Brundle, said that was a load of rubbish and because the RB car was so dominant, because Vettel was clearly favoured by the team over the only other guy in equal machinery and because Webber was pretty average, he got to do a lot of time-trialling so it couldn’t be proved definitively if what his critics said about his racing ability was true.
His performances since his last championship with RB, including his last season with RB when Ricciardo wiped the floor with him as well as his time with Ferrari show that his critics were right all along. Fast driver. Average racer.

12 laps into the German Grand Prix and this thing is basically spoken for by Mercedes-Benz. Not even worth watching the rest of it, really.

There's still plenty of action going on around the track and we should be in for another Leclerc-Verstappen battle.

That corner before pit lane is like an ice skating rink. And that Hamilton pit stop... Toto will not be happy.

When Hamilton spun out, the German crowd actually cheered. Their dislike for him tops their Mercedes-Benz. Oh my, and they cheered again for Bottas spinning out. Mercedes' weekend is a bust.
Can you imagine if Vettel gets on the podium after being called Captain Failure by the Italian press? Come on, Sainz. |

This is just getting even more insane. A Torro Rosso and Racing Point currently in podium position.
They were cheering too when the stewards handed Lewis the 5 second penalty. I think everyone is just burned out on Merc's perfection. |

I’m actually happy for Vettel and Kvyat. Bottas and Gasly need to be really worried right now. Both drive like crap and their seats aren’t confirmed yet.

Both Alfa’s handed 30 second penalties for technical infractions. Lewis is 9th and Kubica scores Williams first point!

Yeah. Definitely feeling a bit sad for Williams this season. Hopefully they’ll be able to pull themselves out of the rut they are in.

What did we learn from today’s race? With today’s rules and stewards decisions to have a good race it needs to be in the rain. No more races in beautiful weather, I say. :)
Great drive by Seb. I like Hamilton, mostly because when he wins he makes it all about the team, he goes out of his way to say it is far from just him. I like Bottas too, I’d like him to be more competitive against Hamilton. Good to See Torro Rosso get on the podium... and since I recently bought a Honda Accord Touring 2.0 Turbo I’m very happy to see a Honda engine in 1st! How much is Riccardo regretting the move to Renault? I understand his position and why he left, but the “unproven Honda engine” is crushing decades of Renault experience. If more races can be like today the sport will become watchable again. I watch it anyway, but flip the channels less in good races. |

Gees, F1 REALLY needed a race like this one.
(and the Verstappen - LeClerc duel in the British GP)

Well the folks who feel F1 needed a race like this prolly feel the same about Stage 19&20 of the TDF.
If unpredictable weather is what you like then both had that in abundance. For me, the nice takeaway from German F1 was Seb coming back from a Q1 mechanical disaster and 20th on the grid to a podium finish. Wasn’t hoping for Lec, Ham, Bot disasters. Would have rather seen close rain racing and battle of skills. But running into tire walls is also a product of skill and tire choice, so part of the package. The 5sec. penalty for pit entry violation was picky but the rules are the rules. Would have been unsafe for Ham to take the car all the way around circuit with half a wing and shedding carbon fiber all around the circuit... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Great race, just wish there was another bout of rain with 5 laps remaining to make it a truly epic race.

Verstappen's crew set a new all-time pit stop record yesterday during the race of 1.88 seconds! It's mind boggling.

Crazy. I know refueling was allowed at the time, but I have a Ferrari shirt touting their fast pit stop at 6.9 seconds. Red Bull has a great video on the evolution of the pit stop that’s worth checking out. |

I’d love it if they brought refuelling back. Would allow for much different tactical approaches from teams and might make things a little more interesting.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No refueling for me. Then everything just becomes passing in the pits and nobody is really racing. I don't think that will solve any of the issues we have with the current regulations.

It would stop lift and coast / fuel saving. But agree don’t think it would be a magic fix. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
