I have a fiend at work who is just as happy as you are right now. Her husband is recovering from reconstructive surgery on his hips. He had been in agony 24 hours a day for such a long time. He's still pretty pumped up on pain meds, but can move around OK already if he's really careful. Yesterday he was allowed to have his first shower. He was supposed to wait til she got home because he was told it would be bad if he slipped in the shower but he was doing his typical stubborn male thing and went ahead and had one. He is only 45 years old.

Caroline, I'm really glad to hear your husband is mending nicely. It makes it all worth it to know things were such a success!

Caroline, your back yard is gorgeous, now what are we going to do with your front yard!!!
Are you still considering the Camellia for the front yard? They may be expensive but they are worth it.....

Yes, camellia, bird nest sprice, moon shadow "something"... We just don't know how to arrange. This week, hubby is also installing a lovely path made of pavers from our driveway to the front walk. This will mark off areas on the left side of the house near the oak trees where we can plant shadier plants such as hostas, or maybe hydrangeas.

As a suggestion, plant the Camellia at the corner of your house and junction with your fence. Then we need to mix up plants(deciduous, evergreen, perennials and annual)of different heights and textures to create interest. Remember to include in Dwarf Alberta Spruce in your plan and they can be planted in groups(maybe on the other end of your house under the pines)!!!

Yes, I am planning to put a Camellia right where the house joins the fence. Also, maybe one in between the two wondows on the other side.

That area under the oaks doesn't get a lot of light - dwarf spruce would be OK?

The dwarf Spruce should be okay there or another plant would be pyramidal Japanese yews(I happen to like those as well but if you have deer don't plant them). Remember when forming your plan to plant in odd numbers. Nature always plants in odd numbers and odd numbers look balanced!!!

But you know, Nancy, from the pictures I can't see anything mobile-homeish about it at all. It looks like a lake house, built from the ground up. Only the Joe family knows for sure!

It just don't sound right to call oneself "Lake House Trash."

We have just had a heavy shower here, looked out of the kitchen window and noticed that the light was just right for a photo of the back yard, my wife loves gardening, the window initially had a nother opening quarter at the top but the bar covered over the eye view from the kitchen so we got it changed to a plain window.

Hey there

Caroline asked for some pics following W's haircut...we didn't have that much taken off...he has hair like me, you can't do a lot with it...

Here he is in his new crash hat....he loves it...

Finally a few of you girls were surprised to hear I am 6'6" tall. This is a pic of a wedding pic...Claire is 5'11" and my knees are slightly bent out of shot. I was dreading the wedding pics as I am such a lump....
