Very nice! So, watching him inspired me to go check out Paul Potts' audition video again - yep, it still makes me cry. Every time!

If Dmitri and I were married, do you think he would sing like that to me every night??

That was clearly a case of mistaken gender. There's no such thing as a woman who doesn't have a lot to say.

He is doing well, has been touring the world singing and has made a mint. He has had a few no.1 globally and he has even sung for the Queen.

I too think his audition was better than Susan Boyle's and every once in a while I go to YouTube and watch it again. The most wonderful part, besides his voice is his "rags to riches" story, especially after the bully issues as a child.

Bocelli's a great talent, and I really like him. But Hvorostovsky's got that baritone voice, and well, ya gotta watch him sing...

I don't know much about opera, Caroline, but would you say Paul Potts is more of a tenor?

Yep - I'd say he is a tenor (and I'm an opera newbie myself). Paul really does have a beautiful voice!

For contrast, here is Andrea Bocelli singing Ave Maria:

Mornin' Leo. I'm good thanks. Had a fun time yesterday at my granddaughter's 5th birthday party. Always a joy to spend time with my kids like that. How 'bout you?

Nancy, sounds like you are blessed with a wonderful family. And spending time with grandchildren must be very enjoying. My arthritis has kicked up a bit this morning with the rain but if it clears up I'll go for a bike ride!!!

I know how much the rain affects ME, and so I know how much worse it must be for you. Hope things get better as the day goes on.

Yes....it's fun spending time with the grandchildren, and my sons are so incredibly funny (in a truly warped way), that by the time I leave for home, both my stomach muscles and my face muscles hurt from laughing.

Nancy, with my grown son not dating, I believe it will be awhile before we see grandchildren. But when the day comes I plan on spoiling them rotten!!!

You have no idea how much fun it's going to be! It's like having all the joy you had with your own little ones, but without the stress of the responsibility!

It sure sounds like a little piece of heaven. I know my wife would jump at the chance to be a grandmother and I would have the time of my life. Isn't life grand!!!

Lisa, that's how they get the different voice ranges. For example, a tenor has a tighter collar than a baritone (tighter pants, too...)!

I managed to finagle it so Arleen sat next to Hxorastovsky at dinner. Naturally she was in heaven all evening (especially when he started dishing the dirt to her about Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon).

Oh, and the Russian vodka was excellent.

I know what you mean, Nancy. When our kids told us we were going to be grandparents, Alreen was ecstatic. I, on the other hand, was petrified. I was much too young to be a grandfather. After all, grandparents are old people, and I'm not an old person (at least in my mind).

But then the moment Alyssa was born, all that changed. She is delicious; and I love watching her as she discovers the world. At 16 months, she is a real person with a distinct personality. And she is the apple of our eyes. And we can spoil her all we want and then give her back to her parents for retreading.

What a great age she is. Wait until she begins having conversations with you. I think I'd forgotten how hilarious kids can be when they're little. (Lisa's kids are a classic example of what I'm talking about). I swear the more time you spend with them, the YOUNGER you feel! (well, except for the babysitting times)

What!? What?!

I'm speechless! I'd be in heaven just to attend a performance!
Your wife actually got to sit next to him?? I know this is a watch forum, but I hope you got pics...

Speaking of Russia, I wonder if you know the nonprofit my sis works for (the name escapes me...). She's been working in DC for about 4 years now, and it has something to do with Russia, international issues, etc...

Unbelievable, Ed!!
