Larry, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My Mom passed a year and a half ago and it was unexpected. She was 83 so she did have a long life and we do survive. My best wishes to you and your family and please remember her with fondness!!!

My deepest condolences too, Larry. My mother passed away just over a year ago and I still think of her with great fondness everyday (usually when I need some cookery advice).
Best wishes

Red or Green.

Time for a new roof on the cabin and also, will remove a bunch of trees that are way too close. We will go with a metal roof this time and I want red and the wife wants green. What colour do you guys think would look best?

I think either would look nice - my first impulse was a dark green, but a dark, almost rust colored red would look nice, too.

I guess it depends whether you want contrast, or to blend in. Spring and sumer the green would blend in. In the fall the rust would blend.

I sound as decisive as this guy. Well, maybe not quite. On second thought, maybe so... or maybe that should be "INdecisive?" What do you guys think? Not that it matters... or does it?

That is a lovely place, Joe.

How about shingles made out of license plates?

Hmmm... photobucket didn't turn anything up. What gives?

Two inches of rain predicted today. Thunder and downpour since 6 a.m. and still coming down in torrents. I have much anxiety today as the crew has been installing a sprinkler system in the front yard - it looks horrible... All the trenches are full of mud and the new landscaping is half dug up... uprooted and lying forlornly in the mud!

There will be no surviving grass to water after all this!

Maybe I should have waited on the landscaping until after the sprinklers were installed.... ya think?

(honestly, I didn't think Dave would go for a sprinkler system... trying to prioritize and this was an..... an.... EPIC FAIL. To coin a phrase.)

I would love to have a place like that! I would say it's more then a cabin, I would call it a very nice house

So here's what the front yard looks like at the moment...

How long will it take to recover from this?
