I've been watching the manufacturing date selector since mid December b/c I've been curious about demand. As of this morning when I checked, September 2022 has been fully blocked off for delivery and they added dates for 2023. I think they got a flurry of orders in the last few days.

According to the date scheduler, you are looking at about 8-9 months if you order now.

I e never put the rubber strap on yet. For those that have, do you like it? How’s it different from the bracelet?

That lines up with my experience. I put my order in a few weeks ago and was quoted 6-9 months.

I like it and usually only switch for pool/beach activities. It's stiffer than the bracelet so it doesn't conform to the wrist as well as the bracelet, but it does break in with time and develop a curve. I cut it to a slightly longer length than the bracelet and it works well that way, especially since it gets used in warmer temps. As it's grippier than the bracelet, you can wear it a bit looser and it won't slide all over the place on your wrist. Once you cut it too short, no going back.

Have you tried 'bathing' the rubber in 303 Aerospace? It sometimes helps to soften rubber a bit while adding UV protection, helps prevent fading and cracking, too.

That sounds interesting. And it doesn’t damage the strap?

Thanks for that info. I’ll try to be brave and size it, maybe

While i haven’t had a chance to appreciate the Antarctique, I feel Czapek is doubling down on it so much that it’s becoming a one watch company in its early stage. Are there other models selling at all?

I think right now they’re just making antarctiques because they’re so backed up on orders. They don’t have the capacity to make others right now because they do one watch one watchmaker.

Have a look at their website, they make multiple other lines. While all eyes are on the Antarctique, the Faubourg de Cracovie Chrono and the Place Vendome Turbillion are amazing pieces and very much under the radar. Unfortunately those are sold out as well.

The brand is enjoying FPJ level of demand right now and people are just starting to hear about it. And no, its not one gray dealer (ahem Govberg ahem) buying them all, but rather multiple collectors.

^^^ this.

The cream rises to the top, and I feel having the honor to receive the Czapek Monochrome will be my best acquisition during 2022. Imho the true independents are showcasing immense creativity and talent as more watchmakers are being swayed away from a corporate gig to more passion projects.

Thank you watchmakers and those who bring us these phenomenal timepieces. When posting my review(s), you can bet I'll honor / mention ALL those who bring creativity and craftsmanship to the project.

I’m salty over the drake. I put a material deposit down with an AD in May 2021 and was given an August target. By November, I asked for my money back due to impatience. I think my watch literally came like a week or two after. Over those months, popularity soared and I lost my chance. (Even longer waits) I’m so tired of the waiting game across so many brands. My streamliner and Overseas will have to do for this category of timepiece we all love so much

I mean they are readily available for end of year right now on the site. If you feel that way. Can’t be said about most other brands people seem to be jazzed about. This is far from FPJ demand. I’d be ordering the whole catalogue.

That movement is pretty though. Tempting to throw a deposit there seems to be non existent downside. If you change your mind they refund 2900 of the 3000 from what I gather. 100 option contract.

Patience is one of the keys to the current OVERALL situation with many things. From food and cars, to luxury home audio and horology. See, I remember when nearly everything was in stock, or a runner from one NYC store would bring it to the store I was at within 15 minutes or so.

If you had to order it, unusual yet happens, give it six to ten weeks to arrive.

We don't live in those times right now. Sorry to hear you voluntarily gave up the opportunity, yet you can order one at the current rate. Lesson learned, no real harm done and I look fwd to joyous wrist shots

I have a 6" and hesitating between the small (38.5) and normal size. I know that for watches with integrated bracelet the case sIze can be misleading.
Any owner of Antartique with small wrist? What is the lug to lug? Thanks

Wait wait failure wait unacceptable wait. That was my experience. Ordered in early July 2020 and received May 2022.

Truthfully, I don’t know. As someone with a 6” wrist, I occasionally think it’s just that tiny bit too large. That said, I come from the distant era of the 90s where I long thought 35mm-36mm was the largest I could handle. It wears smaller than a sports Rolex 40mm, and smaller too than any of the big hitter sports watches except the 5711 and 5167.

I get attached to my watches, and I absolutely adore the dial of my Secret Alloy TA, so I’m not about to chop it in. If I was doing it again though, and if the 38.5 was available, I’d probably arrange with Czapek to try that one on first, and only if I felt it was too small, change to the 40.5.

There are a lot of photos here and in my review thread, so you can make up your own mind on a similar size wrist.

I’ve committed to like 5M of watches but at this rate (of deliveries) it will take my family name 4 generations to pay so I’m not too worried about it

Totally cool as think you mean May 2021, and that's normal nowadays. I have friends still waiting on their Meteorite Pepsi for nearly two years. MB&F is ~14 months or more out some models. FPJ is years.

Patience.

Oh course while your waiting...

They make other watches but right now production on all of them is on hold until they catch up with the Antarctique orders.

Wild Chrono24 prices might not be a good sign for future availability. The speculators and flippers will start to swoop in. I was hoping the Antarctique would stay one of the best kept integrated sports watch secrets.

Thank you. I had a look at your pics, for some of them it looks slightly big but then in others it looks ok based on the distance/angle.

I am ok with the size of 40mm Rolex watches so it's a difficult decision to go for small or normal.

Colleagues, do I understand correctly that there is an option for a 38.5mm Antarctique? I thought they were produced in the 40.5mm size only. Od was I wrong?
