I don't disagree - but a pullback and huge correction / crash are different things. If we start to see it go down faster and larger, I wouldn't take it in a silo as "just a Bitcoin thing".

INTC price target raised, the drop today could be the start of a new buying opportunity, I am long INTC

ABBV continuing to perform, I am long ABBV and may trim slightly today as the position for me is getting outsized. The core position will remain.

How different? I can find plenty of tech stocks more volatile than bitcoin’s chart. LOL at SNOW

I think he’s saying in general a pullback on an investable asset is different than a correction/crash. They are differentiated by % drop and duration of it.

Correct - and the whole point is that if there is a crash in Bitcoin, I wouldn't look at it in a silo, as I've said before. It's just something to keep an eye on when looking a the whole market, just like treasury rates, etc.

i think the double spend was responsible for yesterdays drop. all the media just pushing out clickbait articles about it without any research while it was being debunked at the same time

I think it's just the law of averages. I have a very long investment horizon ahead of me so I will let my automatic investments buy at whatever price it is that day. Over the years, it should be worth more regardless of the purchase price.

So you are saying that Bitcoin is not an investable asset? General population in the financial industry today at large would disagree.

There are only 21 million bitcoins in existence with 1 million kept by the founder so 20 million are available to be mined. This is not to say that other crypto currencies can’t be an investable asset as well and further dilute/expand blockchain technology value.

Crypto is no different than any other financial instrument governed by demand. Demand for crypto is higher than ever. We will see the different crypto currencies develop and grow going into the future similar to global currencies today. Some will be worth more and useful than others in that space. If Amazon came out with their own crypto, then that whole space will be quite interesting..

Disclosure: I don’t own any crypto although my friends have told me to buy them for the past several years. I just own a few of the grayscale bitcoin and ethereum trusts to participate in the appreciation sympathetically while maintaining liquidity.

Dude - read the article I linked and the rest of my comments about not taking Bitcoin price action in a silo, using it to monitor the markets, etc.

I have not claimed anything about whether Bitcoin is an investible asset. Why does this type of reaction happen anytime crypto is discussed?

Agreed and there is a thread just for crypto in this forum

Not ganging up here, but I also did not think Jpeezy was insinuating that Bitcoin was not an investable asset in any way.

Valid points on both sides.

Thanks for sharing these. Wish Seeking Alpha had not gone premium. I am long INTC, CRM and MSFT also. Added a bit to my Intel and Square positions so far today.

This is going to be HUGE for TAK. I brought TAK up a few weeks ago on here and the stock hasn’t gone anywhere. Cathie Woods and ARK has been buying every day, with now over 15m shares and we know why now. TAK will be doing distribution of MRNA vaccine in Japan. Saw this earlier today and added considerably to my Jan 2022 $20C that are dirt cheap. I might roll to Jan 2023 but this is huge upside here in the long run. ER coming soon and 2 drugs waiting FDA approval for the largest Japan pharm company.

As usual, your crystal ball is in great working order. Thanks for the great tip 7!

Pretty ridiculous. I suspect there will be a lot of unhappy folks relatively soon (and certainly post earnings).

Perhaps, but that would require some rationality in the market for this stock. I think the price action we’re seeing is still largely the result of a gamma squeeze, though some short covering is certainly going on as well.

Once the short squeeze really begins, all of the elements of a VW-like episode are there, save for the element of surprise. I think the anticipated meteoric rise will be relatively muted in comparison, but fantastic nonetheless. Long GME.

Not the best close for the market as a whole, but I'll take the great week that we had!

TSLA, FB, AAPL and MSFT all report next week (long FB and TSLA), so we should see more excitement soon. Have a great weekend, gents!

Can anyone here tell me what it means for Intel to file for a mixed securities offering, no amount given? Is this an equity raise?

i know you mentioned you're playing options for some of these earnings. do you typically hold them through earnings or sell before? i've had a bad time holding through earnings in the past but never played them for big tech

I'm holding through, though nearly all of them go a few months past earnings to allow for recovery (e.g. I don't have any calls that expire right after earnings). I'm mostly in longer-term calls / LEAPS.

One outlier though are the FB calls I bought about a week and half ago when the stock was around $250, with an expiration in March - I'm up nearly 80% there and should probably just take my profit, but I feel (and I'm probably wrong) that FB will knock it out of the park. I'm not an options expert like others around here, so just going with gut on this one.

For e-commerce, I'm very bullish on earnings for Q4. This was Christmas, remember, with nowhere to shop for most of the world - so it makes sense to me for companies like SE, MELI, SHOP, etc to outperform analyst expectations. Again - I'm probably wrong though...

yeah i feel like with ecommerce companies this could be one of the best or better q4's they've had in a while. i have apple calls for this march and for june of next year. i think i'll hold both through earnings

Agreed. I don't have any horses in GME but its fun to watch from the sidelines. I guess Robinhood traders are living up to the app name lol
