Just because a car is not bad, it doesn't mean it's close to the bests. This car is not enough to win the team championship title. It is a binary thing, either it supports the defending champion or it is just one among the others.

PER has not got the new package, VER had. And the new package is not enough. Per acted more successful this weekend then Mad Max. The rest is history.

Dorrian Pin seems to the best hope currently, has done incredible things with the Iron Dames in sportscar racing and Formula 4. Hope she makes it but its so competative in junior racing at the moment that its going to be tough.

The Official Formula One Thread!

PIN is in the F1 Academy already and doing very well. But that also puts an expiration date on her presence there.
https://www.f1academy.com/Racing-Ser...34/Doriane-Pin
She would need a seat in F2 before getting to F1. MB may be arranging that for 2025.

Horner has said that Red Bull restricted Adrian Newey's access to briefings, information, and what activities in which he takes part.

I think pulling Newey has had affected the quality of the upgrades already.

That's where the gaps are methinks. VER can feel it in his seat. PER seat has gone to sleep.

I can’t see Lawson stepping into the A team after a year out of the car and only 5 races under his belt. If I had to speculate, it would be RIC moving to pair with Max for the balance of 2024 and Lawson slotting into Daniels seat moving forward. For 2025, I think RIC is probably out.

Agree with you on the Newey affect and the REd Bull will deteriorate markedly moving forward.

Indeed. tbh i only think shes doing F1 Academy for the exposure...its been a walk in the park and shes far better than the competition so glad shes doing several series so that she is racing against stiffer competition with men (no pun intended!)

Definitely needs to go to F3 or F2 next year for a couple of seasons. Realistically though i see her in Hypercar or Formula E in the future.... shes certainly world championship material on some level (probably sportscars)

Truly do hope Rolex considers sponsoring Chess. The longstanding and very well-respected game of Chess is very much worthy of Rolex's sponsored support imho

PUL has spanked PIN at more F1A races. But she's with another team.

TSU - not RIC - if they go that route.
RIC is heading to another direction methinks.

Personally think theyd have promoted Tsu by now if they thought he was up to the job.

They need to handle lawson carefully though, dont want to put him under too much pressure straight away…

…tricky decision they have ahead

The Official Formula One Thread!

Miserable wet weather is now delaying the F2 race. The F3 final laps on a damp but raceable track were very interesting in P4 thru P10. Worth a fast forward to last 2 laps.

F1 Quali likely to be delayed if this rain persists.

[edit: F2 race rescheduled]

Best to cancel the event for the safety of everyone. Refund tickets, etc.

See you all in 2025 at Spa.

Looks like someone got a good night sleep as he put in on pole with more than .6 to the nearest rival. Of course Max will start from P11 and "should" be a dry race tomorrow.

Yuki is taking a 60 place grid spot penalty for changing out virtually everything. He'll but starting at the back of the F3 grid tomorrow.

I know this is out of sequence, but I just returned from Hungary yesterday…long travel day.

The Hungarian GP was a lot of fun! I’ve never been anywhere else in my life with that many other people…F1 estimates showed attendance at over 300k. The surrounding hills were covered with people. It was the first sporting event I’ve been to outside of the US. My relatives said that it’s the most affordable GP, and draws a lot of people from Austria and Germany. The food and drinks were surprisingly affordable too.

The building and pit area are to be demolished right after the race, so it is supposed to be all new for next year’s race.

Watching at the time, we couldn’t figure out why Lando had to give up the lead. We had great seats, at the Red Bull section, at the final curve before the finish line, seven rows up from the bottom. The cars were taking less than 90 seconds to do a lap, and by the end of the race the leaders had lapped the last 8 cars. So, there were constantly cars driving by towards the end. We also saw the cars come in to pit.

Our hotel was a couple of doors away from where the drivers stayed, so there was a huge crowd there all of the time. The Aston Martin crew and the F1 crew (all black clothes with F1 logos) were at our hotel.

I was hoping to buy a Hungarian GP poster when I was there, but I never saw any for sale, I didn’t see any being sold at the event itself.

It was a great experience!

Fun race that.

One that the drivers call won over the strategy team…..i guess when youre lower down you have the freedom to make hail mary calls and if they come off you look like a hero!

Fiar play to george though, made the call and had to make it work.

Safe to say the pack hs closed up to red bull now, thats 3 races in a row with not much between mclaren, RB and merc today, all down to getting a bit of free air.

Max will still win the championship with such a large lead while they were dominant for the first 10 races.

RUS under investigation as underweight.

[edit: I notice that no driver's tires have collected the usual amount of rubber on the cool down lap since Spa doesn't use one.]
