Also if you leave the Hostas in pots they will not over winter too well. In your climate the root systems will freeze killing the plants. What you might do for the winter is heavily insulate the potted Hostas and they probably will then be okay.....

I'm also glad your Clematis made it, I figured it was just late but you never know with winter what will live and what will die!!!
Yes, I did try the beer thing Leo, but there are so many Hostas in different locations that it's a pain to keep up with even though it's effective. I've tried to make my gardening less labour intenstive as I've aged. Usually the stuff I have in pots, I take out and put them into the ground for the winter. Seems to work ok.

Ugh - anxiety.

Anyone else deal with this? It's really been eating away at me the past few days and I'm getting tired of it.

Any suggestions? I've been dealing with this the past few years, and while I generally have a handle on it - sometimes it rears up again.

Tough one.
Been facing far too much of this at work lately myself.
Coped with it for a long time, finally I think something is going to snap.
Most of mine is caused by ONE employee.
5 weeks or so of work till I get 2 months off. That is keeping me somewhat sane.
Need to adress this with one of the partners, but he's buggered off for 2 weeks. I might still be there when he returns
Think you you "happy place"

I sure hope so.
Here's what she did this morning, typical action on her part.
I am at a clients today, another client calls the office looking for me.
She calls me in a panic
"So & So is expecting yoiu at their office this morning. APPARANTLY you forgot the meeting at their office this morning"
I call the other client..
The client answers.
"Hi John, I was just wondering if you had a chance to talk to Mr X & set up our meeting yet? How does wednesday work for you?"
No panic in her voice, just wanting to know when the meeting will be.
She does this time & time again.
Grrrrrr
"Go Snoopy, Go Snoopy..."

Heard at the kitchen table a few minutes ago:

Max (7) - Is Daddy home?

Madeline(8) - what?

Max - oh, I thought you were Daddy! (everyone giggles)

Madeline - What?! I don't look like Daddy!

Max - No, you don't have glasses like Daddy, and you're not really, really tall...

Madeline - and Daddy doesn't have a pink shirt with flowers like this one...

Max - and Daddy doesn't have long hair...

Max - AND, you don't have a really BIG WEENIE!! (lots of giggles)
(mom - rolls eyes)

Max - Like this!!! (pulls down sweatpants and displays wares for all to see)

Ack!! Does something happen to little boys when they turn 7?

Max is usually a shy little guy - very sweet and cuddly, and he still pronounces the letter "r" like a "w" sometimes. But, this?! He was so proud, like he and Daddy are in a secret club or something!

Make sure you keep a ledger of these things.
Yesterday I found the book my mom kept for the things our daughter said while Gramma was babysitting. Priceless moments

Caroline, I know you want to get a handle on this anxiety because you sure do not want to go on meds!!! Mention this to a doctor and they immediately want to put you on a mood elevator. By the way how is your book club coming? What book are you reading now.....

Hey - what's wrong with going on meds, Leo!? Just kidding - it'd sure be my preference not to but I have given up and chalked up my neuroses to genetics. Truly, my dad came from a big family with 11 brothers and sisters and there's not a normal one in the bunch.

Caroline, hope your troubles will soon be appeased. A good glass of wine couldn't hurt, do you think?

Caroline....I had a conversation with a friend of mine at work today. She is in the "peri-menopausal" stage and has been suffering like mad with hormone imbalances. Apparently, the "ideal" female testosterone level is about "4"....hers is at 54.2. She says...."It's a nightmare. All I think about is sex....24 hours a day...no matter WHAT I'm doing!! I finally understand what it's like for men!!!" She also said that at times when someone ticks her off, she instinctively wants So...apparently this stuff starts at age 7?

Thanks, Leo - I am reading "Team of Rivals", which is about Abraham Lincoln. I need to get cracking, as our next meeting is on the 20th!

The only reason I'm not on meds for my anxiety is that my system has such a hard time handling stuff like that so I just drink my meds in a wine glass. There's no normal people in MY family either.
