Remember the good old days (3 weeks ago) when a 1000 point drop in the Dow seemed like a big deal.

Remember when the CNBC clown said to hold Bear Sterns stock only hours before...

I hear you. I do.

But I am in the camp that this is all mass hysteria for no real reason.

People are getting a virus. The vast majority have zero symptoms. Some have a cold or mild flu.

Most that die are older or have other issues.

Tom Hanks is out of the hospital after a few days. The more this gets reported, and the more the public see that this is mostly nothing, the sooner this will end.

I genuinely believe people will lose interest before a real “cure” is realized.

Containment is being worked on. Couple containment efforts with the realization that this sickness is mild at best, and this will be over far sooner than people think.

Human nature wants doom and gloom. This virus reinforces everyone’s desire to have an excuse and feel “their woe is me” storyline is justified. Thankfully, our species also has a short attention span.

This will stay around for a while. But the story will shift gears sooner rather than later.

We shall see. I am usually in the camp you are in but unusually not on this one. I think this is more akin to what happens post Dotcom, 9/11 and Financial Crisis. I think this will change everything.

I hope you are wrong. Boy oh boy, I hope you are wrong.

But I do hear what you are saying and I don’t discount it. I understand that it is a very real possibility.

I am very much at peace with death. It’s the most natural thing we do. And we all do it.

My parents are prime candidates for this outcome if they contract this virus. And if not, they will still die at some point.

I’m at peace that I too will die.

Personally, I think embracing death only enhances life.

Oh superdog. So dark. I’m the “never ever ever unplug me, ever, and Perform all heroics until all ribs are broken, and then keep going, and when all else fails, stick me in a freezer until science brings me back” kind of a guy.

I 100% agree with you about the unnecessary panic and I also hope that dies down soon. I think medically we will be in for a world of trouble for a few months (hospital is full, not enough ventilators, lack of PPE resources, staff on quarantine, etc..). Stay safe and healthy, my friend!

SMD. Btw, I transferred 50% of my LOC into my own bank accounts today.

First time Ive ever accessed it.

But after reading your other post, I agreed completely.

I hope I don’t need to touch it. But I’m glad I have it. Thank you.

Edit. Business bank accounts. Not my own.

Super dog, for purposes of investing or for living? I ask because our world views on this crisis (with the exception of death, LOL) are generally synced up.

I'm guessing it's not for investing because that makes no sense.

Sorry for any confusion.

I posted in the wrong thread. That was a reference from the business thread.

I had stated that I’ll use my LOC before dipping into reserve funds. It was suggested (by SMD) I should take the money before it was potentially no longer available.

It’s 100% for business. And I’m hopeful to never need it. I’m pretty prepared for this. Emergency fund, future investments, and business reserve.

Can never have too much cash tho.

Let’s get back to Talking Stocks 2.0

I’m in a major holding pattern. I haven’t looked at my investments and 401k since the start of this downturn.

I would never take investment advice from a forum, but I truly enjoy reading this and other similar threads

You are on a holding pattern, and you haven’t looked at it since the beginning.

Hmmmm. Okay. Sorry for the tangent. Clearly you are super interested in the details of stocks and investing.

Liquidity is key. Interest rates are low. Better safe than sorry. Cheap insurance.

Of course I am or I wouldn’t be reading or posting in this thread.

Quick edit: I have looked at my portfolios, just quick glance at prices, but not at totals

Absolute pure fuckin insanity panic that Ba is down 62% in a single month or even jpm down 36% in one month. BA is trading lower now than after two deadly airline crashes from their 737 max. Defense stocks lmt, gd, lhx, and rtn look good with zero impact from the Wuhan virus.

Look at all the airlines, most of who already have plenty of aircraft on order. No one is going to be buying aircraft for a long time. The MAX incident absolutely destroyed that company, and they only have themselves to blame

Crazy, innit?

I predict futures may still be up just prior to Market open, but not by nearly this much. There will be a nice gap up that will be worth fading after 10am.

I got temporarily stung 20% late Friday trying that. Thankfully the premarket let me out whole this morning.
