👍

Completely agree - we opened a bottle with some friends a week or so ago --- no one had heard of it - and everyone loved it!

Vina Robles Petite Sirah 2012

Wife picked it up at Cosco. Pretty good...

I've always wanted to but the Grand Tasting is on a Sunday, not really fond of that.

Going to give this one another try. Last time the wife really liked it but something didn't agree with my taste. Maybe it needed more air?

If I can make a suggestion regarding Pinot Noir...search out what are known as "Single Vineyard" bottles. The above bottle is a blend of various vineyards all within the Russian River valley AVA, which is fine, but you would get a far better expression of true Pinot Noir with Single Vineyard offerings. Then after you search out Single Vineyard bottles, then Pinot Noir can be taken even further with individual blocks, and clones being bottled...then you are on to some special Pinot Noir. Enjoy

Thanks. The issue with this one,to my wife and I both this time, was that it had too much of an overpowering alcohol taste/smell. Of course it is about a $15 bottle. Guess you get what you pay for??

Sounds like you may have gotten a corked bottle or two...

The wife and I had the same thing happen with an a couple of 07 Andrew Geoffrey's we recently opened...same kind of thing. The nose was overwhelming and pungent and the taste seemed way off...

This 09 Chardonnay from Montelena has matured so amazingly that I had to share.

The wife and I brought a bottle to a dinner recently and it was a hit.

The citrus tones and minerality that we can associate with Montelena Chardonnay have turned into a silky smooth, with mid-palate fruit and acidity and an almost a creme brûlée style finish.

This wine would have cellared well for another year more than likely / but irbid amazing right now.

If you're looking for a great Chardonnay - that has a lot of future potential --- I would give this a try.

Cheers!!

I agree across the board with your comment. I had not had his Pinot, and enjoyed a few glasses at my in laws over Christmas. His single vineyard Cabs are unbelievable !
