The "standard" advice is to build a variety of styles before you accumulate a variety of colors in one style. But choosing footwear is an entirely personal choice that shouldn't be constrained by other peoples rules.

There's no wrong answer. If you love the double monks, I'd grab the second pair in brown. The AE's in walnut are another good looking shoe. All good choices.

Leather. They've held up well. I have some boots with dianite soles.

I always thought that the Dainite soles would be heavy and stiff but they're exactly the opposite.

Love Dainite for year round wear in Denver.

Allen Edmonds makes most of their shoes on a Dainite sole for a $40 custom order upcharge.

My experience was a little different because they were boots and I guess the soles are thicker.

They actually hurt the first 2-3 times I wore them. Feel great now though.

That being said, they seem incredible in terms of wear and tear. The soles still look almost new even though I've worn them a dozen times.

Hey John, I think we're all looking for comfort. For me, if the shoes aren't comfortable, I'm not keeping them.

Those vibram soles last a long time. With a couple of pairs in your rotation, they should last you for many, many years.

Heh, the walnut strands were the first pair of nice shoes that I really lusted over. Interestingly enough, I've never owned a pair.

For the longest time, I wore cheaper dress shoes (mostly Cole Haans that I'd buy at places like Nordstrom Rack for under 100 bucks). I would go to Nordstrom and try on the Strands, think about buying them, but could never pull the trigger. I'd tell myself to wait for the yearly sales, but even then I couldn't pull the trigger.

Fast forward a few years and I somehow talked myself into buying a pair of cordovan Aldens. Now I have a pretty decent collection... Funny how things work out.

Side note: I listed my newly acquired Polo loafers on StyleForum and multiple people have told me to reconsider selling them. Now I'm really starting to have second thoughts.

Thinking about it, my Marlow wingtips were a bit snug at first, but stretched out nicely. I am really thinking about giving the loafers another shot. The shade of cordovan is incredible. I don't think I will be able to replace them if I sell...

Dainite is great. You get the practicality of a rubber sole, but they are sleek enough that they don't look out of places in a business environment.

Nice
I think we might be twins.

The first two paragraphs echo my shoe journey perfectly.

I've had these strands for a little while, and they really are my favorite shoes (so far).

Was cleaning out my closet recently. A bunch of Cole Haans, some florsheim, and a few Allen Edmonds. Moving up slowly.

How far off is the fit? Where do they not fit comfortably?

Great Combo!!

I too have a thing for English Shoemakers. Some of the best if not the greatest come from across the pond.

Might be even better if arranged around the time of one of those factory sales like for Edward Green.

They are just a bit tight all over. After people on SF told me not to sell, I decided to wear them today. As the day went on, the started to feel better. I think after a few more wears, they'll feel pretty good. Needless to say, I am not going to sell them anymore.

Tell me this shade of cordovan isn't incredible.

There are 2 pairs of Marlow penny loafers in 8.5D on ebay right now. They're the newer, darker version, but still awesome.

Excellent, glad to see it worked after all. They really are one of if not the best cordovan loafers out there.

Thanks Dan. Design wise, I think I still prefer the tassels. If my tassels were in this color though, I think my head would explode.
