I'm wondering whether it is possible to polish the shoulders on the earlier matt finish case? Wouldn't mind the 'upgrade'.

Hi there,

My first Rolex has arrived today and I already love it!

It is pre-owned. No wrist shot for now because... ahem... I can't wear it yet the strap is too tight. I need at least one more link, maybe two
Well I knew some links were missing, so I had factored that in the cost of the watch (kind of). Now I need to visit my AD on Saturday...

Hello all. Really enjoy this forum. So much knowledge and information.

I just acquired a 1993 double quickset Tridor DD. Not sure I have achieved the status in life, to wear instead of my 116600 though.

Interesting way to join the Presidents club!

New to the forum and new to the President.

First-timer to the forum, recently me and a good friend of mine started collecting Rolex watches and he recommended I get signed up on the forum ASAP!

Made my newest purchase today scheduled to arrive Monday or Tuesday. Rolex White Gold Day-Date President 118389 with the Meteorite dial, factory diamond bezel and factory diamond lugs. Pricey watch but after doing a lot of looking this was "the one"!

I did have a few questions that maybe some of you could chime in on; first when it comes to the meteorite dial I could not locate anything that suggested that Rolex ever came out with one for the Day-Date ii, is that an accurate statement? I was considering the Day-Date ii for it's larger diameter but really wanted the meteorite dial and couldn't locate one or anything that suggested one was ever produced.

Second question I had is in regards to the factory diamond bezel and lugs; I was really looking for some "specs" on these items. Basically wondering what kind of diamonds are used, what clarity and grade, how many, total size/weight of the diamonds, and of course I was simply curious about the additional cost for these items, which I assume are optional add-ons.

Last question was in regards to the bracelet "ends" that cover the pin that holds the bracelet to the watch itself. What is the proper term for these pieces and does Rolex make factory diamond replacements? Same question with the band, does Rolex make a factory diamond covered band? If so, what is the cost for these items in White Gold? I'm not sure that I want to go with that much bling, but it was fun to think about and got me wondering how I would achieve that if I wanted to.

Glad to be online with all of you. Hope you have some good feedback and enjoy the pics!

Not a diamond guy but Damon that thing is Sexy! You're correct, as far as I'm aware, the DD II did not come with a meteorite dial. Also don't believe with factory diamond case. As for the stone, Rolex standard is IF in clarity and D-G in color. Not sure you could figure out total carat weight, as I'm pretty sure they don't disclose that. Stunning piece!

I looked through this older thread hoping to find a photo of a yellow gold DD with green dial. But nobody showed one. Is the current green dial a relatively new offering ?

Wish I had the answers. Just wanted to tell you that I too am a fan of the Meteorite dial. Awesome watch.
