We had our first Little League All Star game last night.
We lost 9-1
It was all going very well. My son was the starting pitcher. He struck out their first 3, then finished the second inning with 3 strikouts as well. All in all he went 4-1/3 innings with 8 strikouts and only allowed 1 run. Sounds good right?
Wrong.
After he came off the mound (pitch count rules) it all fell apart rather quickly. We were tied, 1-1. The next pitcher didn't do well, neither did the next, or the next, or the next. Yes, in 1-2/3 innings we used 4 different pitchers and allowed 8 more runs.
There was some drama after the game with one of the players mom's. She was upset that her kid got subbed out after only 2 innings. Maybe if he'd have even tried to catch the routine pop up only 2 steps behind him at first base instead of just standing there not even trying. There's more to the story with that kid. All the talent in the world - just lazy.
So we're in the losers bracket. 1 more loss and we're done.

Coming along slowly Leo. Thanks for asking. My own fault for walking on it for the first 7 days after the sprain. Advil gel caps and wine really help.

What a disappointment for you both. On the bright side, your son is lucky to have a father that will help him through that in all the right ways.

Yesterday we were sitting on the porch. Al went inside to get me some Advil. I was relaxing with a wine. I said....."Now I'm buzzed on booze and pills!" He said..."Oh! Have you been visiting Lisa today??"

Leo? I gave someone a bunch of plants about a month or so ago. They had a new house built and they've been waiting for the builder to put down soil and grass etc. In the meantime, they've been trying to keep the plants alive in the pots etc. Today they sent me a picture of the Russian Sage. It's pretty sad looking, but I can't tell what they are doing wrong.......perhaps you can tell by the leaves, etc? Could the problem be that it's still in the pot? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I will refrain from making a joke about a dying bush. Man, all of a sudden I am having hot flashes and want to kill my spouse.

Yeah, Nancy those plants look like they are about cooked. They could be over or under watering and what kind of location have they put the plants in(East, West or South location)???
They need to be in full sun but being in pots should probably be in a East or West location and some shade till they can be planted in the ground. Also they need to check for insects/diseases!!!

Thanks, Leo. The thing is, this couple has never planted a thing in their lives! They know absolutely nothing about plants, gardening etc. I don't really know them well. I don't even know where they live! I just have an e-mail address for them. Met them when they bought our dining room set a year and a half ago, and because they liked my garden so much at that time, I offered to save them some plants when I divided mine in the spring. Today they e-mailed me this picture and asked what they were doing wrong.

Here are the cliff notes for the plant problem. They are dead.

Hi guys, my stacation is over. I'm back to work tomorrow.
All in all a pretty productive time. Here are some of the highlights. Some of the things I did include:
Cleaned out the central vac.
Changed the oil in my truck (in the rain).
Assembled my wife's pool chair, inflated the pool toys/floats.
Cleaned the gutters.
Trimmed the shrubs.
Replaced 3 of the screens in the screen house.
My son and I cut down a bunch of overgrowth near the wood pile.
Cut the grass
Drove my son here, there and everywhere. etc. etc.

Since I had been so productive, today I rewarded myself with a motorcycle ride to Colt State Park. in Bristol, RI

It was nice getting out for a bit and finally enjoying a rain-free day.
