You're so right. Any time I see very young kids and don't see parents nearby, I feel anxious for them. It's so sad.

All kids should use the pet door - like Violet does.

Not a problem in my house. I just need to remember not to bust Ethan's chops when he's sitting around doing nothing because he's usually so active.

Ha! Back up the bus. My son just got the call. Now that All Stars is finished, he's been invited to play in a local 5 game baseball tournament.
What a summer. What a life. Oh, to be 12 again.

p.s. - Bill, I didn't mean that in a snooty way (is it still baseball season??), but rather, "gosh, our season ended so long ago!".

Yes baseball season lasts from March until the beginning of June, then All stars begins. All stars lasts until you lose 2 games (middle of July this year for us) then the tournament begins and lasts until the middle of August (5 games). The tournament is typically for the kids who didn't get voted onto the all star team but some All Star kids get invited to play afterwards to either help the team or to fill in if there weren't enough players. Then after about a couple of months off, Fall Ball begins (not competitive, just for fun) and we play more baseball through October. Good thing it ends then because his school soccer team starts in September and it begins to get a bit hectic.
Good thing wrestling happens over the winter or we wouldn't know what the heck to do with ourselves. Not doing the state tournaments this year, just school.
He's been talking about trying lacross...
Yup, he's having a blast.

It's all good. I was just pointing out the crazy sports schedules we live with all because he loves it and I can't say no.
As long as he stays on the honor roll, keeps a decent social life, has fun, friends and free time to play his X-box I can't see denying him all the sports. It's killing me but it's only for a few more years and he really enjoys it.

Mornin' Bill! How goes the day, so far? Last night we went to Niagara Falls, which is about an hour's drive from here. My son and his wife are moving there on the 25th. We went to see their new house. I spent the evening chatting with his in-laws and Al helped Paul do painting in the new house. Paul is feeling pretty overwhelmed at the moment. Moving is bad enough, but he also got a new job in that city and will be starting on the 27th. He's trying to tie things up at his old job, arrange for meetings with his new boss etc, pack things up at their current house and get the new house ready at the same time....oh....and deal with a 3-1/2 year old who is feeling a bit out of sorts with all the changes that are happening!

Looks like we posted at about the same time this morning. Niagra Falls huh? I've always wanted to go there. It's about a 6-7 hour drive from Rhode Island.
New jobs are always exciting and hectic. I wish him good luck at it. He's a lucky guy for sure.

Do you live near Toronto? When you visited Niagara Falls, did you see the Waltzing Water show or just the falls? Do they still have Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds? And did you do any gambling?

Do you ever go to Fort Niagara?

Morning, Nancy and Bill, and my other coffeehoppers......can't sleep. Nancy: do you live near Niagara-on-the-Lake, a wonderful place! As to stress of young people moving on and up, I can relate. My son is going through the same thing: medical boards, moving apt., USAF Officer training boot camp, and then Ob-Gyn rotation and start school, no breaks. Now that causes stress, just like your son and his wife: everything at the same time. Good thing they're young, eh? Would kill us.

Dan, your son sure has a lot on his plate.
I remember when my brother joined the army. He was newly married. He went in as enlisted and he got a real kick out of boot camp. Later when he became an officer he enjoyed OCS even more.
Funny how some people thrive in environments that tear others apart.
I suspect that your son must be able to handle all this and that he must be a rare breed. When he is through he will be able to handle nearly anything.

We're between Toronto and Niagara Falls. As for the Falls, it's the standard routine.....visiting tourists see it more than we do. It's just always been there and I can't even count how many times I've seen the Falls. Haven't been there....right at the Falls....for years now though. Don't like the casinos so no real interest there. Too many people for my liking!

You're right..he IS lucky, but right now he's too stressed to enjoy it. Last night he was so stressed and so exhausted he was nauseated all evening. I sure will feel better once he's at least in the new house and can stop the driving back and forth every night. His days are about 18 hours long right now.

Mornin' Dan!!

You must be SO proud of your son! How exciting...but yes....I can easily imagine his stress level! You're so right Dan! Just seeing my son stressed is wearing me down!

Believe it or not, I have NEVER been to Niagara-on-the-Lake, but it's actually one of my "dream wishes" before I bite the big one! I don't know why some of the simplest dreams seem to be the most difficult to achieve.
