I worked at a hotel and a frequent guest from England had a Pepsi GMT Master. I was starting to get into watches and loved the 4 hands and my 2 favorite colors on the bezel.

Submariner 1680 seen in magazine advertisements and worn by a fellow student while in college during the 80s. My first Rolex was a 16610. The Submariner remains my favorite Rolex model. I own a 16610, 116610LV and a 126619LB

I was the Audit Manager for a school district outside Houston in the mid-80's. I was in the middle of a corruption probe & noted almost everyone involved had a TT Datejust. After all of them were convicted I decided if the bad guys could have a Rolex, the good guy also could. I bought a 1986 TT Air King with a white dial, Romans & jubilee...20% discount!

I was always attracted to the sub when I was younger but when it came to buying my first watch it was the 16710 that did it for me

2022 US Open tennis ads had the blue DJ which sparked my interest in the brand. I now have a blue DJ41 smooth oyster.

16600. I drooled over that reference for a long time before I saved up enough money to buy it. That was in the early 90’s.

My dad’s 16660, which he bought new in 1983, and then wore it everywhere and to do everything, from the office to the ocean, and everything in between. As a kid, I saw it on his wrist always - that is what got me interested.

I got the 16660 serviced for him during Covid, and then he told me to just keep it. So it’s my turn to look after it for the next generation.

It’s the watch that means the most to me, the most special of them all.

As a child, the only up-scale watch brand I recall was Rolex. It was the sweeping second hand which caught my attention and was the differentiator. First Rolex watch that comes to mind from my childhood, is the Rolex Pepsi GMT. The red/blue colors, sweeping hand, and Rolex brandname. I do not yet own one. First owned, was the Daytona SS. I'm a sucker for chronos and still love that watch.
