Yes....it's nice and quiet now that she's sleeping. This kid could talk the paint off a wall. I'm convinced she gets it from her grandmother....at least...that's what Al would say. I'll no doubt force you all to look at pictures of her tomorrow.
Yay!!! We definately want to see those pictures!!!!!!!

He'll be doing the same general sort of work (estimating) but for a completely different type of company, helping them implement software and expand the company. It's a smaller local company that does work all over the country. He did have to take a small cut in salary, but there are so many perks that make it worth it. He gets a company car (yay!) so hubby can sell his truck. The hours and pace of the job will be MUCH more family friendly, and the environment will be less stressfull - I'm so happy about that part. His jobs in the past have just been break-neck pace with quick deadlines, and while he always enjoyed his work, it can be a tough pace to keep up. So now, he can do things like coach Max's baseball team. Plus, his position here is infinitely more secure, with room for growth.

As much as my husband loved his last position (and had no intention of leaving voluntarily), he admits that this new job may even be a better choice for him. He actually had a couple of other prospects that were almost identical to his previous job, but he's telling them "no thanks".

Thank you for all the positive thoughts and prayers. I'm kind of proud of myself too - as I didn't have a meltdown, and was able to be a postive support for him when he needed it.
WHEW! High bloody time too!!

Hey, sweet Caroline......congrats to Chris. I'm so happy for the both of you as well as your kids. In the end, it's all worked out so well!!

Talk about a blessing in disguise......maybe that's exactly what it was when Chris was made redundant from his previous job. He now has a more challenging job with better hours so he can spend more time with his beautiful family!!

Well done, guys.....and well done, Chris!!! Wish you all success in your new venture!!

Mornin' Bill! I'm glad for the laptop and login ability. It's always weird waking up in someone else's house. I'm a victim of routine and not being at my own desk with my own coffee cup always leaves me sitting just a little to the left of my own reality.

What's up for the day?

hey, Nancy. We're up early for a change. Dave is the king of snoring, and Phoebe's got a cold, so there was much nose-blowing, uvula-rattling and tossing and turning all night! So we girls gave up and now everyone's awake except Mr. Snore.

However, the Spongebob marathon is keeping everyone happy - everyone, at least, who is under 4 1/2 feet tall. So that excepts (barely!) crabby me!

I know what you mean about being out of the routine! Aren't you at your son's house? How far does he live from your place?

And I'm very impressed that you're getting your photos organized. A mighty task...

Yes, I'm at my son's house. It's the son who is moving next week. My granddaughter is trying to convince me that I should stay here and help her mommy to pack. Between the fall down the stairs I had, and the sprained ankle that kept me practically on my back for almost 3 weeks, my own house has been seriously neglected. The laundry is piled up and I can write poetry on the dust in every room. To add some excitement to this situation, I'm hosting my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower at my home next weekend and I have NOTHING done at this point!!!

Boy....those 'snoring, cold-ridden non-sleep nights' you're talking about are giving me major flashbacks. I just remembered one night when my husband and I and three of the boys all had a wicked flu. I spent the whole night running from bedrooms to laundry room with bedding, stopping in between to shove my head in the nearest toilet!!

But we are here just watching cartoons - Max and Ruby. I need some tea, I think.

I love Max and Ruby. Appeals to my love of vintage!

Speaking of tea, do you have Teavana stores in your area? Pure tea heaven.

Mornin' Nancy, (and everyone else)
You are all up bright and early today. Today's plans include riding my bike, mowing my lawn and tinkering around a bit on my Chevelle. It hasn't been running very well and I'm having a hard time finding carburator parts.

That's right, we're talking about classic Chevy's and carburators in the ladies coffee shop.
If I decide I feel lazy I'll just jump in the pool and relax a bit.
Nancy, isn't the portability of the laptop great? I don't have one but my wife and son each do, and we use them in every room. I have an Ipod Touch (wifi) and I actually do a lot of my TRF surfing and posting using that.

Sounds like a perfect "guy day"! When I mentioned the carburator thing out loud while I was reading your post, Al said from the next room....."Oh yeah! Bill's got that classic Chevelle!!"

Yes....I LOVE having the laptop. I am just about to finish off the HUGE picture undertaking I had and then Al can transfer all my stuff from this computer and I'll be all set! Two of my sons are like you...do all their surfing, e-mailing etc from their Ipods...or whatever it is they have.

Thanks Caroline and Bill! Yup...she's a doll. I like Bill's word...."energetic"......although 'exhausting" comes to mind quite frequently as well.

As you've heard me mention here, I've been busy organizing pictures into files. I came across something from a couple of years ago. I ordered a piece of child's clothing from E-Bay. The seller sent it from England. This is actually how it travelled through the mail. Cracked me up when I found it in my mailbox.

Lisa, check out this site:

http://www.vintagerotaryphones.com/

I do have an aqua one in our bedroom (desk top model) and I'm thinking of sending it to this person to have to refinished. I did see a couple of Princess models on ebay today!

The only reason I don't have one in our kitchen nook is because Violet would pull it off. When she's older we'll get one. The old rotary dials are so cool! And necessary for our kitchen because we don't have an electrical outlet nearby - just the old-fashioned phone jack. I love how they ring...

So, did you come home with an adopted greyhound?

Not yet. Today, we drove up to the kennel, and spent about 2 hours visiting the dogs. We found a beautiful 3 yr old female that has a sweet personality and seems to do well with the children. I have to get a bunch of paperwork in to them, and they need to approve us before we can adopt.

With any luck, we may be able to bring her home by the end of the week!

Excellent news about the dog! Hope you get her soon!

I saw a pink rotary dial desk phone at an antique shop today. It was in really nice shape - with a $98 price tag. Yikes! What color and style are you after?

Neither did I Mireyna! I was howling when it arrived. Unfortunately, something I had not thought of is that their clothing safety code is not the same as ours. The labels indicated the clothing did not meet the "inflammable" safety standards that Canada does, so I could not give it to my granddaughter and just tossed it instead.
