Jim: don't worry about deciding your whole life this week! I'd pursue that writing career and see where it leads, what do you have to lose? Go after those dreams, man!

Very Best,

Mornin' all!!! Happy Weekend! Enjoying a little coffee time here before I head into the cleaning supply cupboard! Al is leaving shortly to go and drive the moving van for my son today. I'm still working on shower prep stuff. We sat on the front porch last night and enjoyed the fact that the reno work is finally done. The railings were finished yesterday and now that's it for us for this year so far as outside work is concerned. Going to spend the next 12 months working on paying this job off and then plan to get a new patio poured in the back yard next summer. Always nice to have a dream on the go! Hope you all have a great day.

P.S. Lisa and Caroline....it's been way too long since you two posted kid pics!!!

You Bum!

Here's how my day went...

At work for 8am. I've started to walk the 2 miles to try and melt a bit of flab. I can do the walk in about 20 minutes or so but I get there drenched and on the verge of an asthma attack...I just tell myself it's doing me good.

I put in a full day and had a client come in and tear me to shreds...as usual I could only apologise and maintain my calm demeanour!

Following that the walk home.

Quick evening dinner and then a shower and get ready to leave for 6.30pm for my Annual Round Table Beer Festival organised by us and run from a marquee at a local pub. It runs for three nights, Thurs, Fri & Sat. We organise, serve beer and try and flog the raffle tickets. We obviously do this free of charge and all raffle prizes are donated for free and once the pub landlord takes his cut for the beer, we then donate to a charity of our choice. This year the charity is the proposed new neo natal unit at our local hospital.

Anyhow...Got there about 6.45pm and I did not stop until 11.25pm...non stop serving ale for the seven of us behind the bar. I was shattered when I finally got home and it was the first time I've ever gotten into bed stinking of beer and in pain and yet not had one single drop of booze.

Tonight is our final night and the night we can all finally enjoy a beer or ten!!!!!

I'll see what I can do about starting a proper thread or posting some pics...I did take my camera last night but the relentless serving didn't give me a single chance to get a break.

I have to admit, after the last two nights, I respect anybody who works in a bar for a living!!!!!

Jim, that's so cool! I bet you got a great upper body workout at the pub. Please do try and get a picture or two - I'd love to see the local pub.

Whew, Nancy - I keep thinking of your poor swollen ankle! Hope all goes well at the shower - it'll be a great time with Nancy as a host!

I'll try to round up some recent kid pics. The ones from our San Antonio trip were the latest - and I promise no one has changed much.

Thanks for thinking of me, Lisa. Actually......it's considerably better. That's why I had nothing done yet for this shower, other than the shopping things. I've been making a point of staying off it so it would heal. It still has a little swelling and pains me a bit at times, but if I don't overdo it, I get by pretty well!

I accomplished a lot today, but I made a point of taking mini breaks to get off my feet for short periods. I've got about an hour's work left and then I'm done. It always makes me laugh how things seem reasonably clean and tidy until we have to see them through someone else's eyes prior to an event. The upside of that is that it motivates me to get a really good cleaning done and do those infrequent chores like taking curtains down and washing them etc.

OK....a 15 minute break here and then I have to get the devilled eggs made!!

Mornin' Nancy
Good luck with your party. With a forcast like that, it sounds like Al's going to a "shower" of his own.

You're pretty quick for this early in the morning, Bill! Good morning! I ran out of steam last night so I still have a few things to do, but the shower isn't til 2:00 p.m. so I have lots of time. It took me a bit of organizing yesterday to figure out the best use of space. Our bungalow is small and so our living room and dining room don't have a lot of space. I think I got it worked out pretty well though.

What's up for your day?

Ethan was supposed to play a baseball game this morning but he called in sick. He pitched a complete game yesterday (13 strikeouts - yay) and it was really hot. I think he overheated or dehydrated because he got sick and even went to sleep before 8:00 last night. He's inside, taking it easy today, doing his summer algebra homework (can you believe they gave 23 pages of algebra homework to the kids who were accepted into the 8th grade algebra program) and will read some of his required summer reading. Oh, I'm sure he'll play some xbox and text his friends all day too. Me? I'm the enforcer to make sure the school stuff gets done. Lol

Definitely sounds like heat stroke, Bill. Glad to hear he's taking it easy. Algebra is a dirty word. Math is a nightmare for me, and always has been. I swear I have absolutely NO left brain!

IMO---23 pages of algebra is just plain cruel!! Ugh.

Algebra - I'm getting knots in my stomach just remembering the horror....

Nancy, I know your shower will be wonderful - your hard work paid off, and you'll have an extra-spick-and-span house afterward, too! Cleaning the curtains... I think I've done that once... in my life.

I'll be thinking of you today!

Did I miss a thread or a post, Dan. Are you now a Carmelite permanently? Or is this merely an extended holiday?

Well, I have to announce an unprecedented event: My husband just left with grocery list in hand and toddler and 6 year old in tow! Phoebe isn't feeling well today so I'm staying home with her. I teased him about being "man enough" to go grocery shopping with two kids and he's going to do it! Amazing, this is. This will get him lots of points!

My own children if possible but not necessary.... don't forget the list.... " I'm not forgetting anything am I?

But the big question, Lisa, is what and with whom will he return home?

Just make sure to check the expiration dates on the milk, and no bruised bananas.

If he listens to the little voices, probably a big bag of those orange spongey "circus peanuts," a bag of dum-dum lollipops and three beach balls.

Yup - I'm hoping he'll remember which children are his....! And if he does end up bringing home someone else's I hope they've already been potty trained.

Hey dudes

Beer Fest update.

We ran out of beer and cider at 9pm last night

That was 50 kegs of real ale and about 12 kegs of "proper" English cider over Thurs, FRi and Sat Night (with fri and sat early evenings included).

With the raffle ticket money and the money on the gate we estimate to have made about £4000 for charity, a percentage of which will go to the nominated charity (neo natal) and the rest going into a kitty to service charitable requests in writing.

Ps...

No pics Lisa...just didn't get a chance. Although we run out of beer last night, the pub was still serving from the bar...that was our excuse to let our hair down!!!!!

At 11.30pm I made the 2.5 mile walk (stagger) home!!!!!!

And I was watch struck for the first time in my life....Serving a pint on Saturday a guy said to me "Nice Watch!" I thanked him and he said "You don't see many Sub LV's about." I was quite surprised as you don't get many recognise things like that around here.

I said to him, "You know your stuff?" and he pulled his jacket and shirt cuff back to show me a solid gold Daytona with diamond markers. "Wow!" I said, "that's way nicer than mine!" He smiled and said "I wanted a stainless steel version but couldn't get one and this was the nicest daytona in the store!"

He must have seen the look on my face and simply said "I don't do grey, Authorised only!"

I told him he must be a mind reader!!!!!!
