Well as we are all pretty candid with each other, I don't mind discussing it a little. The list price (in HK) is USD797,000 believe it or not. Let's assume for a moment you can get 30% off a new one so USD558,000.

This used one is probably in the region of USD340,000 after negotiation.

Further thoughts/comments?

One of my RMs sold today, so that is one potential wrinkle removed (I was planning to trade).

Paul, sorry I know this thread isn't really meant for these types of debates, but hopefully you will indulge me!

I don't mind at all Roger, as you're a buyer and THE RM Guru

As for price that discount seems fairly strong.

$340k on a $797k is VERY aggressive. Also assuming 'used' is minty fresh as I'm sure it would be.

Not sure there is much left in it...maybe $325k??

As for the watch, the 008 is simply a stunner--nothing else can be said. Drop dead hot piece and would be THE showcase piece no doubt. Outside of price do you have any other reservations? It's tourb and split...two things you love.

Thanks Paul. The main reservation is liquidity if/when I get bored..........if he will do a buyback deal, then it becomes very interesting!

Understood. Like any watch, it's a matter of when not if

No doubt a large transaction and understand the need to mitigate the back end exposure.

It's the down side to an expensive sickness the RM world sucks one into quite quickly (as you know all too well)

I would get the used one, even if you get 30% off the new, the difference is too huge IMO to go new on that one, it is an awesome piece

Well it was an interesting afternoon! Most importantly, here are a couple of shots. It is a V1 on consignment, so pricing is difficult as I can't get a sense for the mindset of the seller. It's not in great shape to be honest, with several scratches, but nothing too serious. There isn't a trade to be done (he offered me some really silly prices), so he has asked me for my cash offer.........I have some thinking to do. He also has an awesome Greubel Forsey in - pricing on this one is even more difficult to determine, but I just love GF. Sorry for the lack of wrist shot on the latter, here is a library picture of the current version of it (some detail changes but broadly the same).

Great shots of the RM--thanks for posting.

If the RM is not in perfect condition, I'd personally pass. At this price point there is no reason to sacrifice.

Not a huge fan of GF so I cannot really comment on that one (but I do appreciate them). That is a watch I would be concerned more about the secondary on vs RM...just my .02.

Agree.

However, GF is more of a 'dress' watch vs a 'sports' watch IMHO.

It's just a matter of what you want more

Let's face it, either would be a simply amazing addition to any collection.

Wow, I'm out for a few days and this thread become insane

008 is classic madness, hard to beat that...

Conkers, Paris boutique has 050 in NTPT...

And about GF, always wondered who is crew who buy GF... not many to be seen on internet forums, unlike other independents who has strong market (and internet presence) in Asia... and how much pieces they produce yearly?...

I don't love the 08 now that I see it to be honest. GF are incredible though; diversify your portfolio friend.

The NTPT 50 like the 11 in the same material is a bit too busy for my liking although the NTPT suits the 35 much better. Prefer the plain carbon on the complicated pieces. Can't find the 50 that I posted anyway at the moment. As far as I know all sold out. At this stage I am in a real quandary! Appreciate all the good comments.

Have no clue as to secondary, but from AD's (they were pushing the brand hard) they are 100% list price which is never a good thing later.

Would be a huge gamble in my (pocket) book.

Was in HK for the weekend and had a chance to see 004 011 050-01 and some others in flesh at RM boutique, 050-01 is easily the most impressive, the openworked dial just has so much depth, after see it in flesh I don't think the dial is too complicated and it works really well with NTPT but just in my opinion...
Meanwhile some snapshot of the 35-01
