I've been scouring the depths of the first 5 pages of Google for a place that has Weller Antique 107 for even a reasonable price. Does anyone have a go-to online retailer that isn't in the stratosphere (above $100!) for this stuff? I can find Weller SR all day where I'm at and have a bunch of bottles, but there is only one retailer in my area that sometimes gets it (randomly one bottle here or there). I'd really like to find it but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. There are several other bottles I know I'd enjoy for that much money.

^^^ Sadly, it’s impossible for any retailer to maintain stock of OWA107 at anywhere close to MSRP nowadays. I finally scored a couple of bottles in the current format recently. Which is what, a couple years since the bottle shape changed??!!?? Thankfully, had been able to stock up on a decent number of the prior, squat format bottles, before the MSRP had gone up.

Some good news regarding Weller products in general, they are moving to corks for all their bottlings. Currently the 12, OWA and SR all have screw caps, but the CYPB, and soon to be released FP have corks and soon the other bottles will be following suit.

It’s awful how dry it is for owa. I’d much rather have it than w12 too. On a positive note, lots of good RR barrel picks coming out of groups recently.

Are you on allocation for one, or just planning on paying whatever secondary charge? I, too, would love to find one, but I'm less than hopeful in sourcing one locally...

It blows my mind to read this, because up here in Ontario, Canada (a government-run liquor store province, notorious for exorbitant price gouging and a very limited selection) Weller 107 is in abundance a few times a year, as is Blanton's. I recently grabbed several OWA's for $36 CAD a pop (about $25 USD). But such "deals" are few and far between up here and the Weller and Blanton's are just two exceptions. Some decent Scotch deals as well, which is what I'm more about. I just can't believe people are paying up to $100+ USD for a bottle of OWA... and Blanton's Original, don't even get me started- the most hype juice around there, can't stand the stuff... maybe the SFTB or Gold (which is available here sometimes) is better. Hoping to get some Weller 12 soon. SR is everywhere here- hate that stuff.

I think everything's dependent on different distributors and markets. We have some state-regulated liquor stores in the US and some people love them because there is little-to-no price gouging. In Nevada, our distribution network is set up with the bulk (95% maybe?) of everything going to Las Vegas, with some good stuff trickling up to N. Nevada (Reno) after that, which then hits the casinos, restaurants, and bars first, before finally becoming available to retailers. We have one retailer with an OWA allocation, and they haven't seen any bottles since 2013.

Consider yourself lucky you can get Blanton's SFTB or Gold, we don't get that here. I don't know why Buffalo Trace won't put that stuff in a 750 ml bottle and sell within the US (US Law prohibits 700 ml bottles from being sold at retail, for some reason; yet another dumb law that makes no sense).

I enjoy my Weller SR when I can find it for under $30 a bottle. At 90 proof, it's a little light, but easy to drink. I have even been known to mix it 1:1 with Old Granddad 114 to make a Four Grain mixture at 102 proof.

Can’t go wrong with Oban 14. I still need to try Laphroag and Ardbeg. How do they compare to Lagavulin?

Laphroaig and Ardbeg are pretty similar, strong peat, bold flavour, but not super complex.
Lagavulin 16 is just more mature, you get the peat and smokiness upfront and then it gets warm and sweet for a long time. Lagavulin 16 is my favourite Scotch

Wow, Bas, you like drinking campfire smoke, don't you???

I like the Oban 14, it was my dad's favorite; not overly smokey and has a good balance between the Islay and the Highland styles. I keep seeing the 18 year Oban on the shelves for about $90 and think I might need to pick it up to try it out. I've heard the Little Bay is quite good, as well. I've got their 2015 15 Year Master Distiller Selection that I save for special occasions.

Yes, I like that smoky flavour a lot

Not much Oban for sale here, only a distillers edition and the 14. I will post my thoughts of the 14 once I've tried it. I'm very curious since I mostly only drink Islay scotch.

Got these delivered today, looking forward to popping the New Riff BiB. Unfortunately had to pay slightly under secondary pricing for the Weller Antique 107, but I can’t find it anywhere in my area.
