Nah, I was planning to sing show tunes for 12 hours!!

Actually, my laptop fits nicely in the backseat, I have a supply of DVDs, 2 pairs of headphones and a headphone jack splitter. So, kiddos can play all the movies they want, and I can listen to satellite radio up front (closet news junkie here).

Plus, I am being sensible this time and have a hotel booked for tomorrow evening.

12.5 hours. Last summer, I decided to do it all in one day and hit traffic in New York - 14.5 hours.

Hence, the hotel this time.

She was great with Ileana!!
Her previous job, where she still worked for some hours a week, has more hours for her again. The mom there went back to work and they need the nanny full-time. It makes total sense for her, it just sucks for Ileana and me!
She was bummed out too, coz she relly loves Ileana, but she had to make the choice.

Mireyna, I'm sorry to hear about your nanny! She sounded like a great woman. And once again, Nancy beautifully puts into words what the rest of us are feeling, too!

My boy is sick.

20 months old and it's the first time (He has never even bought up any milk as a baby).

We woke at 5am this morning to hear him choking and coughing on vomit.

He was sick all morning (about every 15 minutes) until I left for work at 8.15am.

Poor little thing has never been ill and his abdominal contractions and pain as he was sick was really distressing him...he was screaming and it broke my heart to have to come to work.

I took his temp and it was only 35.6 so I'm thinking it's just a routine bug but he's off to the doctors at 11.30am.

I really miss him today...that's really soppy I know, but I haven't felt this useless since Claire was pregnant!

Poor little munchkin. Yes, it's agony as a parent seeing your child sick. It makes us feel so helpless! Keep us posted. I'm sure he'll be well soon. Kids re resilient and bounce back pretty quickly.

Mornin' Bill. How was your yesterday? Mine was pretty unveventful. I spent all day purging and shredding old statements, bills etc. and face more of that today. I swear when I'm caught up I will make a point of staying on top of this task!

Supposed to go for some bloodwork today so they can re-check my thyroid levels. I was supposed to go May 1st but I've been procrastinating on THAT too! (I suspect I'll get a virtual smack from Caroline for THIS one!)

Finally spoke to Claire (she's been on the phone to others non stop since returning from Drs).

William has a nasty vomiting virus. He was sick all morning and it's continued into early afternoon.

He wolfed down a little bit of toast but that has come up since.

The doctor can't do anything for him but has prescribed diarlyte to ensure he doesn't get dehydrated.

Claire say right now he's sat on the couch holding his tummy and whimpering.

He's getting a present on the way home tonight...A stop at the local toy shop is in order methinks!!!!

He doesn't get a whole lot Nancy. I buy mostly his soldier or Star Wars Action figures and tanks etc to put away for him for future christmas presents...in the action figure world, if you mis em now, you miss em forever (or pay through the nose on ebay). We buy them here or there each month and it works well because it means we won't have to scrimp and save around his Christmas and birthdays as the present cupboard is full!

That always seems like a good idea until something like this happens and you need something he can have and play with now!!!!!!

It will cheer him up and help me cheer up no doubt!

Morning Nancy,
What a coincidence. I'm going for bloodwork today too. Just follow up stuff from my physical last week. Today is my son's yearly physical. He needs a paper stating that he's healthy so that he can play school sports. I took the morning off to do these things and as a result I was able to sleep in.
Jim, I hope your boy feels better soon. Ethan was sick all the time at that age and it really sucks not being able to cure what ails. For upset stomach remember the BRAT diet. BRAT is for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce(?), Toast. It's the foods to start him back on when he can hold food down again. No fever? That's half the battle won right there. I hate fighting fevers.

Jim, I hope William gets better soon.

I'm sure Joe's just hanging out at his Redneck Yacht Club

The embedding won't work, but go to the link and you'll get a smile if you think about Bubba while watching it. When he sings about "Bob" the "President," THAT's Bubba!

Jim, I'm sorry about William. It's amazing he's made it 20 months without any kind of illness! I hope whatever bug has gotten hold of him is short-lived... if he's got what's been going around over here he'll be feeling much better by the time you get home from work.

I wonder about Joe, too. Wish he'd check in with us...
