Leo!!! We've had such a "non-summer" and it's been so darned cool, and down to 56C at night, that my mums are starting to bloom!!!! Will that wreck them for the fall?

Normally plants are short day response plants meaning that as the days get shorter this triggers flowering. Some mum varieties mature and bloom in August anyways. So are these established plants or new one you planted this year???

Talk about cold I heard on Monday that this past July here in Chicagoland was the coldest July in 85 years. The average median temperature was a shade over 70F!!!

The weather has been absolutely pathetic, and rain, rain rain...always with wicked thunderstorms. Very cool and overcast all the time. Our June was actually the coldest June on record. Now, on Sunday it's supposed to go to about 94F with the humidex at about 118F. Man......I can feel it in my joints already! Anyway, it's funny that you mentioned the shorter days. We are sitting on the front porch. Al is reading and I'm playing here on my laptop. Al just finished saying that the days are getting shorter! Ugh. The mums are well established; anywhere from 2 years to 5 years old. I divide them in the spring. They look like they are going to have masses of blooms this year. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Thanks for the excellent info. You're the best!!!!

Mornin' All! What's on everyone's agenda today? I am going to finish my apple and yogurt here and then head downstairs to the laundry room/workshop and start cleaning, sorting and gathering junk together to see if I can bring some semblance of order to that room!!

Lucky Bill is on a cruise with his wife Wendy, son Ethan and some friends. I'll bet he's having a blast!! Lucky dog!!!!

Good morning, guys. Nancy, it almost sounds like you missed out on a real summer this year.

So, are the road crews re-paving the intersection, or more than that? Kind of puts a damper on your porch view...

I'm hoping that by reading about how industrious you've been, some of the motivation will soak in over here... but so far no luck!

Caroline, are you still on vacation?

Anyone know when Joe is expected to return? Even though Jim tells us he's out of the country, still I worry!

Mornin' Lisa. They are milliing and resurfacing the whole neighbourhood. They are also doing sidewalk replacement, but only in areas that need it. The rest of the sidewalk areas they just grind the trips. Guess that's all the budget is allowing.

Today I am going to be working in the laundry room/workshop. I'm going to TRY to bring some semblance of order to that area. It's not a job I'll enjoy, but I know I'll feel better when it's done.

And a fan of H. G. Wells, too?! Welcome to the coffeeshop. I'm sipping my first cup of strong Starbucks at this very moment. Oh - what brand of coffee do you buy?

Sometimes I think back on that incident and I ask meself: was I being too hard on him? Then I thinks, who WOULDN'T have gone a little ballistic at those antics? I think he's probably lucky to still have all his parts!

Hey folks

Just checking in to say hi.

Won't be around so much for a while, just generally fed up with TRF.

I'll still be about because I really have to start putting together the addresses for the Baby Book but that will mostly be in the background.

Thanks to everybody for all of their concerns whilst we were all ill with Norovirus...it means a lot to both Claire and I.

See you around.
