I spent 30 minutes the other day looking at the movement under a loupe. The movement is so satisfying. And how nice is it to be able to detach the bracelet at a moment’s notice to take a closer look??

Hello, which loupe/how many times magnification do you recommend?

I have the loupe system, which is fantastic - by far superior to any other loupe I have used. I got the 6x magnification. Sometimes I wish I got more, but that may be just too close. I think 10x would be better for photography but 6x is better for the eye.

Finally pulled the trigger and placed an order for the black dial Overseas. This will be my first luxury watch - so I'm super excited. Delivery will be sometime in February. In all of my excitement I forgot to even ask for any discount. Any experiences from recent buyers regarding discounts directly from boutique?

It seems it is more difficult to get a hold on Overseas models than 2 years ago, where they would have blue dial Overseas readily available in boutiques.

New Black Dial

Just purchased last week at Vacheron NYC! Sales experience was not what I expected but the watch is beautiful. They had a dual time in blue as well and this was a very difficult decision. I will try to upload a picture with the bracelet later.

New Black Dial Part 2

I thought I would share my thoughts on blue versus black as well as 3 hand versus dual time for those considering a new Overseas.

As I said in my initial post this was a very difficult decision. My intent was to go with the more simple model because in my opinion it is the most elegant and versatile. The dual time is also beautiful (and the date easier to read with aging eyes) but I'm not fond of the asymmetry the AM/PM indicator creates.

I made an initial inquiry to the New York City boutique and was informed that there is a 3 to 4-month wait for the blue dial. The sales representative offered to hold a black dial for me for a week until I could get into the city. A few days later I received a call that her colleague had a customer interested in purchasing seeing the watch and as such I would need to make a decision sooner rather than later.

She had a dual time in blue so I could compare both colors and after about an hour of deliberation I chose black. I initially felt some "buyer's remorse" because the blue is stunning but I am now at peace with the decision (perhaps a blue dual time down the road) because I feel the black 3 hand is quite understated and elegant.

On a side note it would be great if VC would offer customers the ability to choose strap colors! That would offer greater versatility and allow one to "dress up" the blue dial blue a bit more with a strap other than blue. Similarly a brown leather strap and perhaps a gray rubber strap would pair nicely with the black dial.

Just my 2 cents

I created a second post with another image and more info on my thoughts and purchase. Evidently it is pending approval from the moderator.

I bought it at the VC boutique on Madison Ave. I received some still images and videos of the overseas with different color dials prior to making the trip into the city therefore I was under the impression that they would all be available to review in the store. Upon arrival I was disappointed to learn they did not have a selection to evaluate in-store. The sales rep was very nice but I felt somewhat pressured given the fact that there was another interested party and I needed to make a decision rather quickly. The lighting in the store is not great so you need to walk towards the store front window to get a better view. Not much pampering just a small bottle of Pellegrino, LOL.

Congrats! I was in the NYC boutique a few months ago and tried on the black and white chronograph. That would be the one for me, as I like the size. Yours looks awesome! What was out of the ordinary regarding your experience?

Thanks! I submitted a posting earlier today with another picture as well as my thoughts and experience. It should be posted once its been approved by the moderator." The salesperson was very nice -- I guess I was expecting the overall delivery experience to be more "satisfying." It was a rather ordinary exchange. They did not offer to size the bracelet so I will take it to an AD asap. The chronograph looks amazing!

I just talked with a VC AD (not boutique) and apparently the blue dial 4500v are starting to get the bundle treatment (buy 10k of other watches to be able to put down a deposit)

Anyone have recommendations for boutiques or ADs that can do better?

That’s very interesting that they would not offer to size the bracelet for you. I would want the watch to be ready to wear out the door!

Does anyone here have the 4500v ultra thin?

I've read this:
https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/th...-perfect-watch

But I'd like to hear some other perspectives and see some other wrist shots.

Interesting comment from Justin Hast in an interview on Monochrome. Hints that a production version of the Cory Richard Overseas Dual Time may be coming out soon. One can only hope!

"I also hear murmurings that Vacheron might be hitting us with a titanium Overseas GMT… with Cory blue dial…"

That’s bizarre. I had a totally wonderful experience with the boutique about a year ago when I got mine, I even spent quite some time talking to their master watchmaker. The service was impeccable and they were so friendly! Who did you work with?

Since 3rd gen has been out for close to 5 years now, is an update on the horizon?

Would people suggest waiting out on a new update with hacking seconds and/or fixed date window sizing or pulling the trigger now before they go beyond 41mm?

3rd gen has been out for 5 yrs but it doesn't seem like they took off and sold many and the last year not many were put out there. I wouldn't wait for any potentially changes or upgrades as you say. Hacking is no big deal to me after owning mine and I'm not sure what you mean about the date window, at least to me I think it's perfect. My suggestion is of course get on board and buy it asap and enjoy it before the price goes up again or demand out strips supply as I think it's time has come to be recognized as a highly desired piece and not as a sleeper anymore.
