That's what i've been advising my longtime friends who trust my opinion. Once the Hypemeister TikTok'ers InstaFame'ers KevinO and GuitarGuy mention/wear Czapek....

Pretty neat to see a real waitlist unfolding. People have claimed they wanted to use this purchasing model with Rolex. You can't pay to get ahead on that list. FIFO only. That's pretty cool. But 1 year wait is a long time for someone with a small collection that wants a sport watch to wear now.

That definitely makes Czapek more of a specialist watch. I'm guessing most will be someone's 10-20th watch vs someone's first nice watch as Rolex so often is.

The great news is you know you're actually on 'the list'. Ordered an MB&F LM101 Willy Wonka a month ago and hope for March 2023 delivery, and I trust MB&F. If you want the truly great timepieces, this seems to be the current 'normal'. I prefer having a production date versus being on a 'mystery list'.

The interesting thing about this format is you are really only forgoing the opportunity cost of 5000 invested elsewhere (formerly 3000) and you can cancel at anytime for 100 loss. This leads me to believe that many people will base their reservations on where the price is over the summer etc

It’s not a perfect model for sure but it does seem customer friendly and that’s what czapek is all about.

I’m glad people are getting something they want without losing their dignity for a change.

Czapek

Ordered the glacier blue and delivery is Feb 2023!!this is crazy late, but i liked the watch so will see what i will get. i am also waiting for the Green Fratello version in 2 weeks... so will have 2 versions and i am hoping i wont be disappointed.

i am a Patek collector with a decent Patek collection but i dont feel i can wear them anymore... having a $200K watch on your wrist is not fun so they are getting more of their time in the bank, unfortunately.

Czapek and the energy of Xavier and what they are doing got me interested. those are not watches i will ever sell, so there is nothing to lose and i dont care whether the price goes up and down. those are collectors watches done by a great team... i really hope they can continue to grow and avoid being a one watch company.

will share some pictures when i receive the fratello green soon.

Xavier has talked about Czapek's desire to avoid a 2+ year wait lists, but also recognizes that scaling too quickly can be damaging for the brand. It will be interesting to see how Czapek handles ordering of the Antarctique if the production date moves closer to 2 years out.

This puts them between a rock and a hard place. They need sales to continue as a business and if they don’t issue any new pieces to allow for shorter production they make little to nothing. Even making other watches adds to the backlog. And if you don’t strike while the iron is hot, when do you? Also adding staff or trying to produce more takes time and may be a big mistake. Possibly buying some of their suppliers is what it will take.
This will be challenging to navigate

A tight-rope for sure. I’m not Xavier, (and I generally hate playing armchair CEO), but I would look to launch the 38.5 and then let the Antarctique take a breath; concentrate on the dress watches for a while and just let things settle. The company is wonderful and has done so much right - I would absolutely hate for Czapek to become a victim of its success.

You know what? I’m aware that sustainable growth is a sound target for companies, but … I cannot deny that so far I like the Czapek’s “small company atmosphere”, the start up excitement, the quality and substance attitude, the direct and transparent relations with clients, the low volumes, the out of the radar current positioning, the absence of shouts over socials, the idea that so far only few hundreds of these watches are taking air on wrists around the world … obviously things move on, so … I will have to enjoy the moment …

^^^ well said. Let's enjoy the moment, gentlemen.

Am sure they know what they're doing. I'd gladly take part if they do a second round of financing. Was invited to the first, wish I did.

check out this video with xavier and tim mosso. xavier confirms there will only be production of a 600-800 watches in 2022 across all models. really exciting to see the growth of this brand: https://youtu.be/qey6tAoKEA4

I‘m a bit confused about the comments about a 38.5mm version. When will this be officially launched? Also how large does the 40.5 version wear - the indicated 44mm lug to lug suggests that it doesn’t wear large? Is the 40.5 similar to the 41mm RO in terms of wearability or it is more like the 39mm RO?

Independent, truly exciting and new brand, releasing a thin "sports watch" nautilus and royal oak styled, AND with (what a surprise) salmon and light blue dial / tiffany dial. Let's wait for the green and actual tiffany dials very soon :)

I know the answer only to the first of your questions - 38.5mm version will be OFFICIALLY launched during Watches&Wonders - last March/beg. of April.

But you can order them - both Glacier Blue amd Salmon version - already now by directly contacting Czapek (email). Tested. Works smoothly. Great experience.

In the video Xavier talks about the movement and speaks of German silver. I don’t understand what he means by that. It’s towards the end of the video. Can anyone explain that to me? Thanks

It's the particular metal alloy that the bridges are made of. It tends to acquire a yellow hue with time.

That's also the famous brassy silver tone Lange uses. You can guess the age of a Lange by how gold it has become. When new it looks like this. Very warm.

The spots on the website are manufacturing dates, not delivery dates. It will take another 3 weeks after the manufacturing date for watches to actually ship. So with only a couple of days left in late February, people ordering now probably will not receive watches until late March 2023.

I'm happy for Czapek, but I'm hopeful they don't find themselves in the same position as other brands who have had to close wait lists.

I’ve never sized the rubber strap and looked on YouTube for directions but found none. If I line up the bracelet and strap and center the clasps, it looks like I can cut and pin and it appears to match the bracelets length. Is that how it’s done? Any help is appreciated.
