Steve, have you communicated with Jimbits about it? He might have an update.
1. Steve? Chill out. It has been around the world to countless members, all of whom are busy, some may have wanted to share their addresses, some not. Addresses have needed confirming and messages have to be sent to let people know where it is going next or who to contact to get their address. People have also pulled out and have left me hanging, others have been on holiday or vacation when it arrived for them. I have asked Mireyna countless times about foregoing the remainder and having it sent directly to her but she assured me that she was prepared to wait until everybody signed up had a chance to sign it and remain a part of the gesture. Let's not get wound up and wring any last drops of enjoyment I had in setting this up and managing it for the little girl...that said, I haven't seen anybody else around these parts taking it on themselves to help out in my quite obvious absence from the forum!

2. Kind of hostile? Yes, I would agree!

3. Bill? Hostility is warranted? The book isn't missing. I know where it is. I have been trying to confirm the remaining addresses and that those members still want to be a part of the process. Just because you aren't seeing a great deal of activity in public doesn't mean that those involved are sat around doing nothing about the book. Mireyna knows this as I told her following her post here and her private enquiry to it's status. I will admit to being a little lax on the updating of Mireyna on it's position but hey, wouldn't it have been a nice surprise to see it finally arrive in her mailbox after going to all of these wonderful places around the world?

4. Lisa. Thank you. Your logic, sensible and straightforward approach and rational thinking is a great benefit to this forum.

Anybody got any further complaints or wants to take over. Talk to me directly.

Thank you, and yes the birds do use it... All the time.
Take care...

People in Japan are without a home, some are dead, some lost everything, and the reactors are still leaking radiation. In the US tornado's, flooding, have taken lives and destroyed entire towns. The Middle East is in turmoil, cities are being destroyed by the political powers, people are dying for freedom. I am happy to just be alive (considering what is going on in the world today and the disasters) and I am able to see a sunrise and sunset every day with my small medical condition. Do you really think a book is more important than what I listed above?

Lester the world is full of misdeeds. Bad things happen to people everyday but this is about the signed book so...

Lets stay on point here...the book has taken a very long time to reach it's intended recipient, way longer than I would ever have imagined. During it's travels it has been lost twice but has still shown up with the original sender or something similar and seemingly miraculous.

This book means a lot to members here as it was a gesture of friendship and indeed a snapshot of a certain time and point in the forums history. Many have moved on or have been moved on since but all had the genorousity and grace to take the book in, sign it, perhaps add something to the package and then send it on to the next guy, sometimes even far overseas. A lot of effort has gone into it both behind the scenes and on the public forum. It has become more than just a Rolex catalogue...

Is it more important than wars or sick little girls or extreme weather or guys with cancer etc? Nobody is saying that and I doubt anybody will.

I understand Steve's impatience over the matter but the truth is, old Jimbits has had his watchful eye on the thing for years now and he ain't gonna let it slip at the final hurdle.

Trust me on that and trust me that I would be more broken than anybody to see all the work and goodwill people have offered to Mireyna's little girl vanish into the ether...

You haven't been around here very long so let me try to put things in perspective for you. The book in question started it's journey when Mireyna's first child was born. It was intended to be an expression of warmth and friendship to Mireyna and her family from the members of TRF. It's been on the road for several years now going around the world collecting signatures. It is of value to the membership here and we like to be updated periodically on its whereabouts.

Please don't bring world disasters into this picture. We are all aware of what is going on in the world and we do not diminish their importance.

Bill's statement about hostility was admittedly a bit over the top. Nevertheless the importance of the book as a symbol of friendship here cannot be diminished either.

Jim is in charge of the book's travels and he has things under control. So let's leave it at that for now.

Do you really know what this is about, were you ever part of it? If not then I suggest you keep out of it.

A lot of people put effort into signing and forwarded on this catalog and I'm sure many would like to know what happened and why it hasn't been delivered as yet. Yes this was years ago, and not I'm not sorry for asking and being frustrated at it still being out there. It was never envisaged to be a 'never ending story'.

I for one can't wait to see that book reach home. As no 2 on the list (adrian signed it first) I'd be fascinated to see where and how it's been signed.

Yes, I'd like to know where the catalog is and when it is intended to reach it's ultimate destination, if that isn't asking too much?

I'm sure a lot of other people would like to know too who put their time and effort into this activity some years ago.

If this has all been clearly explained before then I'm sorry I don't get to read ever post in over 2,000,000.

Why all of this interest now may I ask?

I've had a thread running for a long while and forgive me if I'm wrong, I can't recall seeing a great deal of interest from you in the thread. The people who put their time and activity into this have only had to ask me where the book is either in the public thread or personally or even over at AJ's. I've always been upfront about the book's location.

I can't understand your hostility. The thing was set up as a gesture of love and friendship, let's not get angry or stressed when it has almost reached it's destination.

Let me ask you a question or two. What would I have to gain by setting up a signed book thing for a friend and then not fulfilling it's promise and just how exactly does it affect the forum, owner of the forum or moderator in a negative way if the book gets lost or mishandled?

To answer your questions.

The book is with a member of this forum. I have asked him to forward it to another member of this forum.

How long will it take to reach it's ultimate destination? I'm afraid that living in a backwoods area of English countryside, I am not well versed on the delivery times and estimated arrival dates of US Mail. What I can tell you is that after the next recipient has signed it, there is one more stop before it reaches Mireyna.

Now, the optimist in me would say, probably only a few weeks to go however...when I started the thing, I would have expected it to have been with Mireyna by the end of that year so as many who know me would probably say "what does he know?"

I trust my response is satisfactory for the workings of the forum and the benefit of the membership.

Lets get one thing straight there is no 'hostility' so get over that.

Next you asked me if there was 'a problem' and I told you I just want to know where the catalog is and when it is anticipated to reach its ultimate destination?

Simple questions I would have thought.

Now without buying into your 'issues' and answering more of your questions how about just helping me out with 'my problem'.

So the catalog is with a member of the forum now, are you able to identify that member so I may contact he/she?

Sorry that was rude and abrupt. I gave my word to many that I would keep the matter private and that nobody would be hassled for it other than me.

Well you publicly stated in March that the the catalog was with Irish Dan, so it seems unusual how now it has become a private and secretive matter

What is unusual is why you have a big interest all of a sudden.

You may think I have a big interest 'all of a sudden' but I followed this up several months ago with a relevant member.

Also as one of the people who participated in this activity I was never told that my identity would be kept private and I could not be called up to confirm possession of the catalog. In fact the thread for that activity publicly announced all the names of the people who the catalog was to be sent.

I'm not understanding the reluctance to be forthcoming with information regarding this situation, its not as if it is a private matter at all.

It's not necessarily a private matter but I also fail to see how it is a forum owner's matter and why you'd feel the need to contact those involved.

I cannot recall you contacting me in your follow up.

Leave the 'forum owner' out of it.

I participated just like any other member here, and I made the catalog available to others at a mini GTG to sign and send their good wishes and then transmitted it in the mail to the next nominated member.

The reluctance to be forthcoming with uncontentious and basic information on your part just makes me all the more curious, and your deflection of questions with allegations against me is also something that I find unusual to say the least.

This activity is one that has always been conducted on the open forum and it should be capable of being discussed openly and frankly, I don't understand what is going on and the refusal to answer basic questions is quite remarkable.

If the catalog is lost or gone then just say that, maybe someone can do something to remedy the situation, but keeping it all secret and accusing me of being over bearing just adds fuel to the fire.

The people that matter most here are Mireyna and Ileana.

As far as I am concerned they have been updated and have faith in me to ensure the package reaches them eventually.

As I see it, only to Mireyna should I be forthcoming with any basic questions.

I'm sorry you feel this way about the matter Steve, I asked you to trust me, you obviously do not. The door swings both ways.

Until I hear from Mireyna to tell you the exact location and who's in or who is out etc, the matter remains a secret.

I didn't say anything to the contrary either expressly or impliedly. Again this is a strange thing to say.

But does that mean everyone any anyone who has an interest, and it is interesting to know how this catalog is making its way around the world, doesn't get to know what is happening.

I mean say many contributed to a giveaway and I said to everyone well the item to be given away is going to someone, I'm not saying who, but if that person wants to tell you well that is up to them.

Anyway, its clear I'm wasting my time so I'm sorry you feel so uncomfortable by this request for basic information.

No thanks, not right now. But please keep in mind that June 3 is National Doughnut Day in the USA. I am expecting some super doughnuts at that time!
