Congratulations! Not a customer, but always found TJB to be very helpful and friendly.

I'd also like to add that the guy who sold me the sub didn't really have much to gain from doing business with me. I'm not exactly a high roller for this area and he knows I'm not going to be coming in four times a year to buy watches and diamond earrings. If I ever get a chance to do the dude a favor, I surely will.

Same situation I'm in. I personally think I'm doing VERY well for where I come from, but I'm squarely a middle income person in DC standards (sigh). I won't be buying more than the Sub anytime soon but if I can make that happen in a matter of months or whatever, given the current demand climate, I will consider it a miracle and will then have a watch to pass down to each of my boys.

....of course it will probably start a fight over who gets the Sub. We are at the point where we have to buy them both the same toys otherwise it turns into a s&%t storm. Does it ever end??? Sorry off topic...

I suppose they’re not yet old enough for you to lead with “well, they both have a 3235 movement inside, so they’re basically the same...”

So I went back to the AD to thank my sales rep for the DJ, tell him how happy I am, ingratiate myself, etc. Nothing new yet, but I did see a 116508 with black subdials being made ready for a customer pickup. It was ordered back in Jan when that was still possible. So they waited almost 8 months. Really not too bad!! Especially considering the grey prices for this right now...

But yeah, wore my watch in there, basically tried to signal without being too obvious "look at me I live here and I'm wearing and not flipping this watch."

Hey OP, I'm in DC too and was going to try building a relationship with TJB (don't worry, my target is a BLNR, not a sub :)

Was there a specific SA that you worked with? Thanks!

Good luck — I am interested to hear how it goes!
Good luck, only vip costumers in this area.

I would say I have ben very fortunate, as a long standing client w/ two dealerships.

However it’s currently, even for us “VIP’s”, because of such much higher demand.

They are get shipments early/ mid-summer they had lsms
to no deliveries.

Establishing a relationship with manager is best…. at least buy a Cartier or other brand, Then charm, and a certain elegance, he empathize but, you can only hope that it establishes the. relationship.

Good luck in y’all search in the DMV area (DC, MD, VA).

I offered the guy some money and he would not accept it, but said please come back if you need anything else. But sadly as mentioned above inventory is nil. There is also a Rolex AD in downtown Fredrick Md.

They are no longer a Rolex AD.

Hey guys! I'm dredging up my old thread to let everyone know dreams can come true. In late December, less than 6 months after beginning my relationship with TJB, I got the call for a Sub date in steel. Wonderful salesman who really came through and wanted to help out one of the "little guys." I couldn't be happier - and right before the $1000 price increase!! I'd say it was an Xmas miracle but I'm Jewish...

As am I. And let me tell you, if a Christmas miracle comes along, and happens to save me $1,000 I'm going to shut up and take it because... Well, not going to get into self-deprecating ethnic stereotypes here, but, you know...

Let's just leave it at mazel tov on the Sub

I have quite a few Rolex watches and very good relationships with a dealer in Nva as well as London. I have bought all of my watches at list price. In the past 10 years I might have had the opportunity to buy 2-4 watches I was looking for during a 12 mos period. I’m lucky if I’m given the opportunity to buy one. (First world problem huh) The value of my watch portfolio has increases dramatically and that feels good but I don’t sell anything so it’s “paper value” That said the scarcity of Rolex and Patek has accrued to the benefit of many fine brands such as Vacheron, A. Lange as well as Omega. As of late I’ve been buying vintage pieces I still have a great deal to learn but it’s a lot of fun and very interesting.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster around here, but have learned much from the wisdom on this forum. I wanted to see if anyone is in the DMV area has recent experience with the ADs around here. The main options I've been working with are Tiny Jewelbox and the Tourneau in Pentagon City Mall. Both have been great to me so far in terms of treatment and communication. I've only been around this area a couple of years and have not purchased watches from these dealers so I don't have a history to lean on.

I was told by both ADs that a Sub (date or no-date, whichever comes first) is not impossible, maybe within 12 months. Does that seem realistic? Time will only tell if I'm just another shmo way down their long lists or if they can really help me out. I have done my best to go into these shops a couple of times, talk honestly about myself and my years-long dream to own a Sub (i.e. I've tried to convey I'm not looking to flip and want this piece to wear), and have established relationships now with a specific rep at each store. Has anyone had luck with a sports model this year at these locations?

FWIW Tourneau told me they don't have wait lists. I'm not sure I really believe this but they seemed to imply they would attempt to source me the watch based on my inquiry; this sounds like the same difference to me but I'm willing to ride it out! While I was in there today a gentlemen walked in with a Sub he had bought here this year and said he waited about 5 months. Maybe dreams do come true!

Neither store made me feel like I had to purchase something else to improve my chances, and I think I am generally good at reading people's intentions. By my third visit to Tourneau I was introduced to the store's director who was very nice and promised to find me what I'm looking for.

Meandering post, I know; am I being naive here or can a Sub really be had with a little patience and good faith?

It can happen, esp. at the Tourneau in PC.

Great story, gotta love these updated posts where we hear about some ADs helping out less established customers.

What happened to the days when this marketplace was normal? Before the tool watches were the size of King Kong and had bling-bling on every inch of their surface?

You have to think back to the days when JJ was still around here, so that must be 10+ years ago. When collecting these watches felt normal...
