You never hear "I bought the Sub but really just had to get the Seamaster in the end..."

Rolex owners never seem to start these threads...Always the Omega guys trying to prove their watch is superior or equal...

Please refudiate.
Nobody really is trying to prove its a superior piece or slag off anyone else's choice. Sub is an iconic piece that goes back to the 1950s. The Speedmaster Pro is also an icon that has a similar lineage, and it doesn't compete with anything Rolex offers as its design (manual wind / Hesalite crystal) differ greatly from the Daytona. Similarly the SMP's design, with no cyclops, sword or skeleton hands and a wave dial is a completely unique look from the Sub, as is the PO yet again with its sword hands and black date wheel.

People who want a sub but can't afford one buy an Invicta, people who buy an Omega do so because that's what they have chosen at that point in time, there's nothing more to it than that. BTW, my next purchase will be a Milgauss GV, but after that I'll be looking for a vintage Speedy Pro, because both are unique and special in their category.

The Rolex Sub was my first luxury watch and will always be my absolute fav watch. I also own an Omega Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch which i love very much. Coincidentally im wearing the Speedy now! However, i would choose the SUB.

Cheers

I have an Omega SMP Chrono, and love it. I also have had a 16610 Subdate and currently have the new 116610 SubC. To try and compare the Seamaster to the Submariner is really pointless IMO, but makes for great debate I suppose. Both are fine watches and are almost equal in every respect as far fit, finish, and performance are concerned. Get both and you won't be sorry.

I have a Seamaster 2254.50 and a Sub date M series. The omega lume is far superior and it's also more accurate. The sub triplock crown and bezel are in a different league. On my wrist the sub is my favorite by far and gets worn so much more.

My Seamaster Chrono Diver saying Hello to a virtual Hulk Sub in a virtual copy of Watchtime magazine.

Instead of the Sub, you could get a Seamaster, and an iPad 64GB+3G

Don't get me wrong, the Rolex sub is a great watch. However, when I had a choice between the Sub and the Exp II, I took the white dial Exp II. I have never regretted that decision. Both my Exp II and my Omega 2254.50 are keepers. Cheers, Bill P.
Great photos!

I think Omega makes a great watch, but I prefer the Sub. The Omegas are "on fire" in the store--they wear big, are sparkly, and have substantial bracelets. All of these features exude a type of quality that says "buy me!" The Sub, in contrast, is a slow burn. It wears smaller, lighter, and with less flash, but it really looks best on a long term basis.

I started with a seamaster, then a PO, next came a Sub until finally a Sub date LV. All are great watches.

Get Both

This is a great thread. I have wanted a Rolex Sub since reading James Bond as a kid. I have always loved the Omegas as well. I recall when we bought my Dad a Seamaster for his 40th birthday. Loved the engraved sea monster on the back. As a result, I have an Omega SMP mid-size and an Omega gold bar Constellation (both quartz). I have acquired a Vintage TT Air King and w/in the last month I finally acquired by beloved 14060M. I initially thought about selling my SMP, but I still wear it and love the look of the face. I have many watches and rotate them. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of lume on my Sub as compared to the SMP, but it is still a watch that I love to wear. Both brands are rich in history, are fine timepieces and look great on the wrist. For those who need to believe one is better than the other, have at it. You say tomato....
