I know what it feels like to be burglarized...feeling violated and angry. It just sucks. Please accept my sympathies.

Dude - I'm sorry this happened. Let me know if there's anything I can do from here.

Thanks everybody, I really appreciate the support I have gotten from you guys, it means a lot. Hopefully the police will be able to locate these crooks and put them behind bars where they belong.

One of the physicians I used to work with in San Diego was out of town for a week. When she came home, the entire contents of her home were taken. Everything except the window coverings. Yes, they even took the food. Apparently they show up in the AM, break in, move everything into the garage, and a crew throws everything into a small moving truck mistaken for furniture/appliance delivery a few hours later. They said it could have been an inside job, as she was out of town, or just done in a few hours when they knew/believed she was at work. We got a lot of time off/early days, etc. It could have ended badly. Fortunately she was only renting, as she was not comfortable there again and moved immediately. They did recover some of her appliances from somewhere. No alarm, etc as it was a rental. Apparently one neighbor saw a truck in the driveway one afternoon. No details. Apparently she was one of many in the area.

In a nice, upper middle class neighborhood thieves broke into an expansive home on a quiet street. As they ransacked the house, a fifteen year old girl lay frozen underneath her bed, hoping they would never find her.

They didn't. They got away with a stereo, a TV and some jewelry, but that resourceful and very scared girl was never found.

She grew up to become my wife.

Needless to say, my house is very, very heavily secured. Anyone can get into anywhere with enough time, information and equipment - but they would need a lot of time, a great deal of information, and enormous amounts of equipment to get into our home. That fifteen year old girl vowed that no one would ever get into a place where she lived ever again.

Nonetheless - I still insure my valuables. As the OP proves, we are all vulnerable.

Hello Ali,

I'm so sorry to hear of this, I live only 10 miles away from you so it hits home pretty hard, though nothing what you're going through. Please accept my deepest apologies. I know what it feels like to be robbed as well, and you have my sympathies. I hope the thieves are brought to justice.

I'll keep an eye out too for you being so close; and best of luck with the insurance. At least during the Thanksgiving holiday you can be thankful nobody was hurt.

Anyways, hope you get past it quickly.

-Up.
