The Datejust, I surmise, is the most popular Rolex for the same reason that the Constellation is the most popular Omega. Constellations make up something like 50% of all Omega sales (I am probably wrong, but I think I read that), mainly due to Cindy Crawford (on the female side of things), and the Asian market.

But if you peruse the Omega Discussion Forum here, or the popular Omega Forum on WUS (can I say that here?), no one likes Connies, unless they are vintage piepans.

I see loads of watches whenever I'm working, but in the 3 years I've been on the shopfloor, I've never seen one identical to mine. The DJ is a hugely underrated gem in the Rolex lineup, if you ask me
Hi Chris, in your 3 years, just based on your personal observation, is the ladies DJ the top seller? If yes, would it be anywhere near the 50% often quoted? (I understand that your figures of course only applies to your particular AD and not Rolex as a whole).

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't put the figures quite as high as 50%, but they do sell very well indeed, probably the most of any individual model we stock. We also sell more TT models than SS models, ladies seem to like the versatility of the two colours

Just look at the gray market, I can safely say the Sub is the most popular Rolex.

Think the vintage market props up some models. I firmly believe that were it not for the sub's history and the 1680/16800/168000 going back to the sixties, people wouldn't pay for a 16610 over a Planet Ocean. Those old subs (admittedly also the 1675s, 1016s, and datejusts) gave Rolex the street cred that they've been trading on ever since.

Omega's got a similar arrangement, there are Italian Speedmaster fans that get misty-eyed talking about the history of the line, and the legendary quality of the vintage connies (along with the good looks of the pie-pans) has helped people overlook some of the utter garbage Omega made in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

I can't get excited over the current constellations at all, but I guess they sell.

datejust is the most poular and a good reason for that is the 36mm size anyone and everyone can wear a 36mm but for some the 40mm is too big

The Datejust for sure. Do not like them personally but they sell A LOT of these. An AD sales person once told a friend of mine that those watches are their "bread and butter". My guess is too the fact they come in various his and her models, and have a very "dressy" look to them. Even just a simple eBay search can give you a little example of this. The model(s) with the most results will be 1) Datejust and 2) Submariner pretty much.

After that it would no doubt be the Submariner! A watch often seen as an inspiration for other brands.

That's right - just took a look - 5,895 ebay hits for DateJust, 1,712 for Submariner.

What...no votes for the Cellini line-up?

I would definitely say the DJ must be in the #1 position followed closely by the Sub.

Keep in mind that we are very much a sports / tool oriented Rolex crowd here at TRF. I don't think that is really the case across all of the Rolex's world markets.
