xhype, I'm from NYC as well, which store did you look at the GMT in?

Dominicwarren in response to "Also, if you buy a watch with a credit card then essentially you do own the watch, but you also own the debt as well." I agree with you 100%, however I also think the original comment was referring to 0% financing from the AD, as oppose to purchasing the watch on a credit card. Maybe I'm mistaken.

In response to Stonedcl, I sort of agree, because I almost did the same thing. I had all the cash to purchase the Rolex brand new, however the AD pitched the 0% finance rate. For awhile it made sense, why spend say all the cash upfront when I can spend a down payment & keep the money in the bank just incase something unforeseen were to happen. I think in general I agree with everyone else in saying that financing a luxury item such as a Rolex is not a good idea.

Save for what you want...what's the rush? Buying after saving and researching makes owning that much more sweet..at your savings rate it will only take a number of months. In perspective, that's not long at all..bear in mind, one is never enough!

This is a bit of a stramge twist to a fun post.
I hope it all works out and that you someday are able to wear a Rolex on your wrist..

So while you save, the watch gets further out of reach. Let's say you save the same amount per month that would've been your payment. It could take 2-3 years to get to today's price but you still fall short since that price has risen 10-15% (or more) over 2-3 years."

Also, if you buy a watch with a credit card then essentially you do own the watch, but you also own the debt as well.

if that is the case, then you simply can't afford it. there is zero shame in that. but having to buy a luxury item with credit is pure folly. start with a lesser brand that is amazing. i agree fully with lifetime, i would not feel good about something that i "own" when i actually could not afford it and had to have someone else buy it for me.

quite simply it is this attitude that put the world in the economic state that we are in.

I don't even know where to start on this, your use of the term "niglets" has left me at a loss for words. Judging by your passion for this I am sure you will have your Rolex soon, be sure to post pics when you find one you like. Best of luck

Really? I doubt this forum allows for the use of slang racial
terms. Still say I'm IBTL.

i had just created a rather long response and deleted it. i figure that i am a jerk for what i am thinking. and it is not productive in anyway.

true story: i hope this guy finds what he is looking for. ultimately we as human beings are what we have learned. and all we really want is to be liked.

Dude. Good for you. Wait until you can pay outright. But maybe even let it take years. Pay all your bills, keep a roof over your head and keep your gf happy. Maybe even use a period once in a while. But I think, IMHO, that you are in a good place. Desire creates motivation. Be motivated to live a solid life and wear a piece that shows it. But take your time, enjoy the process and get the watch of yor dreams. After you solidify all other aspects of your life.

Personally, I didn't start buying Rolex until I was 37 and had all bills paid significant money saved. Be motivated and make it happen...the right way. You can do. Do it!!!
