Sorry to hear and see. Everything will be in working order. That's the great thing about Rolex, they are here to serve for decades to come.

Best of luck getting it fixed. Hopefully it will only require a new crystal

Also very sorry to hear this too. Time for her to get in for a service and a new crystal IMO.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope it is fixed and back with you quickly.
I must say I would have thought the sapphire crystal could take almost anything. I would not have expected a drop to have caused it to shatter. |

The repair cost will depend on whether or not you will also need a new dial and and hands. most likely you will also need an overhaul to check the movement. It may cost up to $1k to fix it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I dont know why people even take their watches off, its a small item and can slip and fall or be dropped.
Its a rolex sub. Wear it all day. At night take it off and put inside your sock drawer or something, wake up, shower and put it on. Repeat as mentioned. Do not: 1. Carry your rolex in your hand around the house. 2. Put your rolex on the kitchen/bathroom/vanity counter. 3. Do not put at least 10 cm near an edge of table. Wear it. |

This is a good idea, but you have to have a specific rider to your policy and have each covered item of jewelry listed. Plus, you would need to check the deductible level. This isn't a loss of an expensive item but rather something that will cost at the upper level of $1k-ish.

I feel bad for you. The important thing to remember is that it is completely fixable - albeit at a monetary cost.

Again thanks a lot guys. I can't answer everyone but I will try to cover everything in this post.
1. It fell from waist high but I dropped it with a little impact since I was trying to hold it. 2. I was removing it to put it on the table before I go to sleep. 3. No insurance and no credit card. I talked to my watch guy and he said he can replace the crystal for a minimal cost. He also added that the movement should be fine and that he can fix this for a little over $100. Your feedback is making me consider talking it to a RSC for a full service instead. |

Mate, just get it fixed. It's going to cost a few $ but you have to get it done. I feel your pain and it happens to the best of us.
Remember your not the only one and won't be the last. Look forward to the post repair pics. Cheers Jules |

Personally, I would NOT let anyone work on it except Rolex. Yeah you could have the crystal replaced, but I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing it was repaired correctly. Plus, Rolex will warranty the work for two years, given that a full service is performed.
I mean, you invested a lot for your watch. Don't chinz on its repair. Just having the crystal replaced would not suffice for me unless Rolex states that the movement is ok. |

I got a few offers in private and one from a friend. My friend's offer was the most tempting. His 16610 LV plus a black insert, plus 1200$, minus whatever it takes to fix the watch. I counter offered him the same deal minus 300$ and he would take care of fixing it. I don't think he'll accept but this is still a good deal IMHO, I just want to avoid running around trying to fix it since I'm packed these days.
So I'm back to where I started a month ago, minus a few hundred $. Serves me right for not listening to your advice in my Sub LV + 1 vs. Ceramic Sub! Thank you all again, your empathy and insight has helped me a lot go through this. :) |

Do you guys think I can get away with wearing it as it is? Happy Diamonds Sub. ;) I don't need it to tell time anyway, nothing beats the accuracy of my iPhone! :p

+1. And OP DO NOT take to wearing as is you'll only risk doing even more damage to it in the future(moisture/dust etc), get it in to your nearest RSC or take the deal offered by your friend if you really can't be doing with the hassle

In the UK a 16610LV costs the same as a preowned 116610LN. The $1200 extra he's offering you (for some reason) will offset the repair.

Just because you dropped watches in the past doesn't mean they impacted in the same way as the OP's. A direct impact to the sapphire crystal on the right surface could very well shatter it.

Hurts seeing the pictures and quick thinking by pulling the crown out.
I'm sure the RSC will make it look brand new....at a huge service fee. Live and learn...some leasons are more expensive than others. |
