It's definitely vintage, but still looks nice.
If you're looking for class, I'd recommend a newer model though - like the RG DD with the silver diamond dial (and fluted bezel on a president bracelet - I wouldn't put a croc strap on that one, it just wouldn't look right). I think some Daytona models can still look classy - like the RG Daytona with pink or black dial, or the YG Daytona with the white dial. Just my opinion though. |

Love the 1803 with black matte dial
not too crazy about the second dial. It's an after market dial .
Nice 1803. I've got a few myself. These 1803 look best with the domed crystal. Alex over the VRF has his watchmaker installed Omega domes on them and they look great. IMHO, the 1803 can be worn with just about anything ( except nylon nato ). Love the croc combination that you have presently. Congrats |

If that is aftermarket, I'd vote changing it back to original dial. Would like to hear the whole story why they switched it in the first place.

I guess that the thick hour marker would disturb my eyes after some time . .
And several members already mentioned that it is not an original dial . . . Maybe send it back and continue your search . . . That's more fun (for me anyway) than just owning it ;-) Just my .02 HAGOne |

Hi All,
Wow, my dealer tells me it's a new original president black dial, they no longer make the narrow baton markers on Rolex black dials. How would I know it is an aftermarket dial? I feel confident that the person I purchased the watch from is genuine and would be telling me the truth, any tell tale signs as to how you would know it is an aftermarket dial? |

Cheers everyone for the compliments, much appreciated, I'm also the type that likes a bit of criticism to keep it real, and a couple of forum members think it maybe an aftermarket dial :( That type of information is invaluable and I am still researching this and waiting for a reply from my dealer's master watchmaker. I don't want to walk around with a beautiful watch but an aftermarket dial... My next purchase is going to be a Datejust Gold Dial with Roman Numerals with Jubilee Bracelet 2004. I have caught the bug big time:)
Cheers.. |

Hi Mario,
I just had it confirmed it is an authentic dial by a master watchmaker down in Queenstown, (NZ) Can you tell me why you think this is an aftermarket? You use such strong words are you sure? Confirmation of the dial is an original and it has had the baton markers re glued as the original glue is very old. Cheers. |

Hi Mate,
Ok, the dial might be genuine, I used the wrong word I guess, but Please look at the original with the Lume dots at the end of the stick markers. On Your dial received there are non, the dial maybe genuine as a base, but has been tempered with. I always go after the Main Rule: Rolex does NOT made luminous Hands with a NON luminous Dial..Unless someone please correct me on this, I stick with it that the dial changed from the original listing has been replaced by a refinished one. |

Hi All,
Cheers Mario for your learned visions, I hope someone else on this forum can concur with these findings as I really need to know if the last post has any truth to it or if I can be pointed in the right direction to a database link of dials etc.. Cheers. |
