Give it time, you'll think of some justification. We all do.

Only issue I have and it seems to grow in me the more I stare at the face of the watch is that the 24 hour wheel is obstructed by the date cyclops... Rolex should have been more careful with the symmetry of the dial, what do you think?

That, and one issue for me is I just have a problem with numerals that are truncated by sub-dials or other things going on with a watch. Rolex did a very good job of avoiding this pretty much with the Daytona so why not on this watch? I know sawed off numerals are seen on many very high end watches, but I just don't like it. I'd rather they just go with dots or sticks.

On the whole though, it is a stunning timepiece.

If I could afford it, the WG version would be mine. Sadly, that day is not quite here.

At the risk of sounding bah humbug, I'm still not sold on the Sky Dweller's aesthetics. These are my opinions only:

- I'm also not a fan of faux "sawed off" numerals.

- I find all the combined cut outs on the dial slightly excessive, from date aperture, month indicators and 24 hour ring.

- I'm not fond of how the 24 hour ring is not concentric with the perimeter of the dial.

- I find it peculiar that an annual calendar has date and month, but not day.

The movement and the innovation it represents is quite noteworthy, but not enough for me to want to buy the watch given my reservations above.

In the grand scheme, my opinion counts for diddly squat and I'm genuinely happy for those of you who have seen the light and like it.

Do not like the watch. I still have an issue with Rolex having to name every watch model they make on the dial. For an expensive luxury product I think it cheapens it. I don't believe PP, AP, or ALS do this.

I would have to disagree, having tried all the Sky Dweller watches recently I think they are lovely looking watches especially the WG Sky D.. They feel great on and look amazing. I wasn't sure at first but in person they really come alive and look class.

For me the best Rolex ever is the Smurf and stands above the others but again my opinion. WG Sky D will hopefully be my next watch next year or so but watch this space as this watch business is a nasty illness.

Stunning watch. I like all versions, but especially the YG. Definitely on the list, and right at the top too!

I love the look of it but the lack of a day kills it for me. I think it is weird to have the date and month but not the day. Then the addition of the GMT wheel which I do not find useful. I so wish they had put a day wheel there instead. If you're going to make a calendar watch then do it. If you're going to make a GMT then do that. A halfway version of both just bugs me.

Not that anyone uses a calendar watch to know the day or month..... we all know these aren't there for information. But still, there are days when the day of the week gets lost and you can't remember if its Tuesday or Wednesday right? Does anyone ever need to know what month it is? I would find a day 1000% more useful than the month.

x2, it's way, way, way out of my range The only Sky-d i've seen in person was the YG version. It felt amazing on my wrist. It's something special to have a gold watch on your wrist.

Skydwellers are among the top, not to mention there is the reason behind that they have its own official collection. Love the month apertures on them.

Good points. I also think that a simple test to judge as to whether a Rolex is nice is to envisage the watch with another brand name on the dial, eg, Omega or Breitling........I'm certain that in this case the watch would be getting 'slammed' on this thread, especially with the above observations.

Ok concept with the bezel and crown but the dial is totally dismal - Shame could have been great - especially if Rolex teamed up with Felix the man who jumped from space now he should have been wearing the SkyDweller of all people at any cost. Gone are the days when Rolex watches meant historical acheivements only the DeepSea has done something historic - bottom of Mariana Trench on Cameron's wrist - that's good enough for me!

Also it doesn't tell am / pm nor the day of the week on main dial the only extra indicator is for month - over engineered if you ask me to just indicate the month. Just add a month window to GMT or am I missing something here. When will Rokex produce something outstanding like they used to back in the 60s 70s instead of shiny shiny sparkly sparkly nonsense.

I think it's a great looking watch, especially the white gold model. With that being said, if I was going to buy a gold Rolex, there are a handful of other models I'd prefer.

The YM2 and SkyDweller are the newest complications to come out of Rolex in decades. For a company that has done the SAME THING for half a century, that's a big deal. Sure, the designs may not appeal to everyone. Hell, the complications may not make sense to everyone but give credit where it's due for finally trying something different.

If you prefer 60s 70s Rolexes, then there are plenty of vintage models out there. I happen to agree that these new models aren't perfect (dates on both would have been nice) but I still like them for their interesting complications.
