A luxurious, practical status symbol.
It's not some prissy horologic diva that needs to be pampered. For me, the essence of any watch is reliability and durability. Nevermind if a watch is gorgeous, if it can only tell time half the time and is in the shop the other half the time with a service bill that is half the price of the watch, it's junk. I like the fact that it is engineered so that I can be a lazy cheapskate and not service it for 20yrs and it will still run. Not that I would do that, but I can appreciate that engineering. As good as the watch is, it is a Rolex and people love it since it's a status symbol. Not a big fan of that as my style is more understated, but it is what it is... I still love the brand. |
