It's not a first for TAG. They have all of the Sub homages in every variant. For the person who doesn't want to spend Rolex money but have the look, it's a great alternative. I write this while I am wearing my Invicta Sub homage. Not everyone cares what name is on the dial. And I have had a 14060 previously.

Love my Rolex, but let's face it, their designs are not exactly earth shattering nor unique... They take basic design and made it desirable..... Any watch brand has to have some elements of the Rolex design and Tag Heuer isn't any different... No one will mistakenly buy a Tag thinking they are buying a Rolex or trying to fool people... So what if they used the same color and design ? It's not like it's illegal?? And I bet it'll sell more than the Rolex .... So good for them to capitalize on the market.... Meanwhile enjoy your Rolex or tags or whatever watch, brand that makes you happy... Rolex is not the end all of all watches.... Dare I say there are other brands that are far better than Rolex ??

Unbelievable, Rolex should sue. Same as when LV copied New Balance sneakers, NB sued and won. That is horrible and cheapens Tag more.

ha, i actually think it looks good. The crown looks extra grippy and the dial is pretty clean. I was wearing an aquaracer the other day which does look a lot like the sub, which is why I like it by the way, and one of my colleagues noticed it. He said he liked it a lot because it looked like that one invicta he likes. I laughed and said yea i guess it does. The moral of the story is the vast majority of people dont know jack about watches, and who cares. Watches are for enjoyment, they aren't Mona Lisas. Calm down, its just a watch people.

EDIT: If homages bother you I suggest picking another brand......It's Rolex for crying out loud the most homaged brand in the world LOL.

I don't find this as bad as a lot of people seem to. Yes, the color scheme of the bezel and GMT hand are clearly ripping off the BLNR. But most of the rest of the details are different. Its not a BLNR, but its also has a MSRP of just over $2k. With an ETA 2893-2 this might be a nice option for people who can't spend $9k on a BLNR.

Tags are wack to me now. The brand has really gone down hill in aesthetics lately.

Ugly, arrogant responses. My first "decent" watch was a TAG and I was a happy 22 yr old. Who cares if it's a weak effort in copying the blnr? If there weren't choice and different price points where would the markets be? The Datejust is the most copied watch ever and there are tons of people who buy imitations...so what! Not everyone is blessed to have $9k to spend on a rolex. Holy shit.....breathe people!!!!

On the contrary i think F1 models SHOULD be quartz. Thats the DNA of the F1 model, rugged sports watch that has decent build and also cheap.

Other than the blue and black, I really see no other similarities. They are two different pieces, and while the Tag is much cheaper than the GMT, It's almost an insult to say the look identical.

It's easy to say "just a name on the dial," but with the name comes quality of the product, innovation and history. Rolex excels at this. Invicta fails (miserably).

How is this any different than Tag or other companies copying the looks of the Submariner?

If people like it, they can buy it. That's fine with me. I'll just never be one of those people who buys it.
