I think the polished links look great, but, the trouble is, it's easy to become paranoid about scratching them.

I would never buy any of the dress watches. I can't afford all gold or platinum. I just like the SS & TT sport watches; Subs & GMT's. I might would buy an Explorer II but whatever I get next, I'll have to buy it pre-owned because everything is getting too expensive.

A Day Date for me it costs too much for what you get IMHO. I love Day Dates and I don't have any issues with anyone who owns one, I just think of the buying power the money for a Day Date has and other items come to mind first. I would also skip the Air King, the Exp. 1, and the Milgauss.

That's a tough question.
Probably a Day-Date. I love the look of the watch, but at that price, there are others on my list that are more meaningful to me...Lange, Journe, Vacheron. Plus, the less info on the watch, the more I tend to like it. That's why I especially like the Daytona & the No Date Sub.

No leopard print, or`any masterpiece Rolexes with hundreds of diamonds. I don't mind a diamond dial with diamonds on the hour, but not blinged out

I would never buy a Rolex Air King, Turn-o-Graph, Perpetual.....Cellini's aren't even considered b/c they aren't true Rolexes, same with Tudor
I do appreciate Cellini Princes....and Tudor Tigers...

No all yellow gold rolexes for me or rolexes with diamonds or other precious stones. Two-tone's about as flashy as it gets for me.
I also don't like the cellini and milgauss models. The updated SD doesn't appeal to me much either - it seems to be overdoing the "I'm macho" vibe. No mid-size models also. 34mm Air King is as small as I'll go - incidentally, I compared it to my datejust and it actually looks like they have the same size. It also feels heftier and has a more "blocked" look to it - my datejust has a jubilee bracelet and it's more tapered towards the bracelet so it doesn't seem that much bigger. I'd actually say the new AK has more mass than my 90's model DJ. I also wouldn't get a titanium rolex. Although it looks very good and is very light, it's expensive to buff or remove scratches. I was quoted an exorbitantly high price to remove the scratches from a titanium watch that I have. Almost the same price as a breitling I own. So, no more titanium for me. |

What about:
Any Sub (except Bluesy and green insert) with or w/o date. Any SS Daytona on Oyster or leather (except meteorite) Any SS smoothe bezel DJ on Oyster brac. Maybe a TT of these. Black or white Milgauss. Not the green cristal. Explorer I Air King Any SS GMT except ceramic one Lots of vintage Precision, Subs, Daytonas, etc. Talking about maybe 50 or 60 variants, so as I said: still a lot to choose from. (if I had the money) |

Never the Deep Sea model from 2008. Too heavy, bulky and I would have such a time explaining why I would "need" something that goes down to 12000 feet.
Probably same for Daytona because with my luck I would bust the buttons off somehow.

"Before the designers was old farts at Rolex, now it looks like the new ones comes from kindergarten" That is probably why my friend.
