Great photos Bo. I do hate to hear about the ceased production of such a great watch. I might have to grab one before their all gone.

I am afraid that counterfeiters will take advantage of the sd being discontinued and start mass producing!

Thanks for sharing Bo. I believe Rolex made a wrong move by discontinuing the SD and the GMT II. Those are classic and loved by many of us.

Just read the thread. Been away for the weekend
WOW that was quick.
Question is, what is the stock like, how long will it take for them to sell out or will they spread the supply over a longer period??????
Finally will they increase the price on the final few??

I am glad I got my SD in Jan., before the price increase and with a discount. I think I am going to hold on to my SD and GMT for a loooong time.

My AD told me this was going to happen a few months ago. I didn't know if it was true then but now I guess it is.

Okay. So, what's the lesson? Everybody go out and buy Subs now, because they are sure to change in '09-'10?

Only problem is, the Sub w/ date is about the _most_ common Rolie out there. If you had one, who would give a darn?

Collecting is a hobby, eh? Lead with your heart. Buy what you love. Then, whatever happens, you won't be disappointed.

As it happens, I feel the exact same way about Christina Aguilera, but don't get me started . . . .

[Needless to say, I mean no offense to Sub w/ Date enthusiasts. I'm trying to make a comment about collecting. That's all. Personally, I love the Sub w/ Date and nearly bought one recently, until I woke the f--- up and realized I wasn't Rockefeller. Jeesh. But if I were Rockefeller, I'd definitely have one. It's the benchmark.]

Good news is, I have a SD. Bad news is, my fiance is insisting I hold up my end of the deal and sell it. Our original agreement for buying the Daytona was that I would sell the SD. Oh well....

this is not the end of a legendary watch but rather, the START of it! imagine even when it was in production, you rarely see the SD in any ADs and on the streets, now that its discontinued, it truly attains the status of a LEGEND and RARITY... hold on to your SDs!

Buy low, sell high. Prices are going to go way up, I'm planning on buying 2. One to keep and one to sell BNIB 2 years from now. I figure that it will get me a solid 30% return. Definately better than the stock market.
