Whatever it is called, this watch was not made for Rolex buyers me thinks, they were hunting for Blue Omega Seamaster customers........ Price and look are right on the mark. Anyone else think these points and an in-house movement (criticism against Omega in the past) are ALL about serving it up to Omega using the Tudor brand........

Pelagos is silly enough as it is. Tripoli would have been cooler.

Blue Pelican.

No, I really don't. I truly believe that the watch is an excellent tribute to vintage Tudor Sub's of years' past with a nice modern twist (slightly bigger, modern materials from titanium to ceramic, brand new movement, etc.). There's absolutely zero mistaking this watch for anything other than a Tudor diver...

Well said, Andrew.

Can't bitch about the lack of in-house movements from Tudor anymore so some have to find a way to put the riffraff in it's proper place.

The watch clearly isn't ALL about serving it up to Omega but it sure does a good job of it eh? Hell, if we are being frank, the Pelagos in general probably costs Rolex a good number of Sub or SD customers. I know I could afford a new Sub and had a SD back in the day...but these days I just don't feel the need to spend twice the money on a Rolex when I can get everything I want (and more) in a Pelagos. This is doubly the case with the new in house movement. I also think the North Flag will steal some Explorer I customers, but I think again Rolex is thinking more than a few Omega AT customers will also come over to the dark side. So ya, the Tudor line cannibalizes some Rolex sales so it sure as hell also hits Omega where it hurts.

Not into nicknames but any way you look at it Tudor has done some fun things with this and the Black Bay (what next for it?) by throwing all sorts of heritage elements into the designs. Snowflake hands which is pure Tudor, colours, dial markers, chapter ring dials on the BB, big crowns. They are reading the market interest just right at the moment and now in house movements adding further appeal.

I love the Pelagos, and I love Blue, but all that text on the dial really turns me off. Too bad because otherwise I'd be buying one ASAP. I should have bought a blue Tudor Sub in the 70s I guess. But they were out of my affordability range, at over $250.
