Everyone has preferences but I would keep an open mind. Try out a few options even those you may think would not work on you.

Now, have you seen any of the new DD40 models? Go to an AD, try them on, and come back and have a chat

Having spent most of my adult years in Japan and Singapore where expensive timepieces are everywhere, I don't harbor any negative stereotypes in my mind that I let interfere with my enjoyment of gold watches. I'm pretty comfortable wearing gold watches regularly.

Not a huge fan, and YG doesn't suite me at all, but it really works on this.

Nice trio, Otto. I never thought I'd buy a gold piece when I joined here but now I have a few and when I wear SS they feel rather stale in comparison now so have sold most of mine off.

Not sure when or why I turned the page but I'm a big gold fan now as most of my collection can attest to. Keep in mind gold is yellow in nature. It's been used for millennia and will be around for longer than me.

No YG for me. Rock WG though, understated as I only know what it is. RG I haven't tried, but probably couldn't pull it off. I do have a TT GMTc which is my travel piece, love it.

Those that can pull it off, they are beautiful.

Anyone else can't get themselves to wear gold?

Exactly. I am NOT a fan of a full YG or RG watch. The WG Smurf was perfect for me. It passes for SS, but YOU know the difference because of the weight. Don't worry. Tastes and preferences change with time. No hurry. Buy what you love and wear it proudly.

I, too, am from New Jersey. My experience comes from the north-western part of the state where the farms and bears reside. I love the color and shine that comes from yellow gold. I usually wear my Day-Date or YG Sub by themselves, without any other jewelry. I have several 18kt nautical necklaces, but mostly wear them with SS Sub or Platona.

Love Gold Rolexes. It takes a certain person to feel comfortable wearing it. Wear what you like.

I don't generally care for yellow gold, or the weight and vibe of any precious metal watch, for the most part, and I'd rather spend the money on a steel Patek, but...the awesome, monochromatic Day-Date in all yellow gold with the stick dial is one exception I'd consider. That's simply a timeless classic (I also like the OysterQuartz version.)

I often find myself loving the look of yellow and rose gold on someone elses wrist but when on mine it feels way too conspicuous and it shouts out far too loud for my liking. I even bought and took home a rose gold day date and within 24 hours realised i had made a mistake and took it back for this........... luckily my AD was accommodating!!!!

This is my opinion only though and everybody is different and thats why we get to look at so many great watches on here.

I will never buy a PM watch because I don't like the color of gold and or two tone watches and WG or Platinum watches are way to expensive for me to buy.

So I will stick to steel watches and I'm more than happy with those watches.

I'm a huge fan of PMs such as Platinum and WG. If I was to go with a colored PM it would be Rose Gold however.

I recently moved into a TT gmt 16753. I think the yellow gold and steel fits me well.

I love YG, I've rockin YG DDs for about 10 years now and I'm 38 currently and wear a DDII YG black roman everyday, although I defiantly want to try Platinum or WG for my
2nd "stand by" watch. I just cant figure out what one to get, I like the size of the DDII and feel like the 40mm subs etc. ones are too small, so just a handful of options in Rolex left at that point.

Nope. Love solid yellow and rose gold and also TT as well. If TT is done right, it looks simply marvellous, such as the TT Blue Sub.

Based on the OP's post, I would suggest him to go with WG or Platinum. Then he would get the best of both worlds.

I wear a TT Blue Sub C (116613LB) and I love it. It is my first watch with any gold in it and it works for me. It matches in with my wedding ring and i find that my stainless steel watch now looks slightly uncoordinated. The blue TT sub is not a watch that flys under the radar like a stainless steel or white gold one. All gold on a submariner would be slightly "too much " for me though.

I don't do YG as it doesn't suit me. If I went PM, it would have to be WG or platinum.

I thought it would be cool to have a WG Daytona so I traded my steel one towards the PM version.
Big Mistake!
I don't know if it's because my arm is frequently in a position where the 12 o'clock side is pointing to the ground (driving, sitting at a desk)? But the all gold Daytona constantly shifted such that it was turning away from me. I was constantly fiddling with it to reposition it.
I repositioned it into a Patek Aquanaut, the antithesis of a heavy watch.
No PM bracelet watches of any color for me, thank you.
