I'm sorry but i'm in agreement with the majority here, I do feel sorry for your bad AD experience however your main issue seems to be how you were served a fizzy drink?? Are you too posh or too important to pour your own drink? Yes you should be treated with respect and expect good customer service but buying a Rolex doesn't make you royalty!

The Rolex experience for me was opening a FedEx box from a trusted seller in the privacy of my home, and it was everything I thought it would be

Sorry you had such a bad experience, it sucks when you build something up so much and just to be let down

I must say that a layer of dust on everything ? What is the manager of that store paid to do all day while the employees sit on their butts doing nothing just waiting for a customer to walk in ??? When I was younger and worked for someone if I had nothing to do I was cleaning something, anything !

So they found the watch you wanted at a price that works for you, but pouring you own coke made it a bad experience?
If they AD gives me a good deal on a watch I would be more than happy to pour all the employees drinks and clean their frigging mirror.

It's ok to expect less from a high end dealer, I suppose.....

This is a polarizing topic. I have to say, we live in a service oriented world. In the high end luxury segment, "first class" treatment is the standard...whether this is deserved or not...it's the standard that had been set by industry leaders. I know at times it makes people look entitled or snobby but I do honestly believe that every high end luxury corporation wants their customers to be treated very well and feel the "fill the brand name in the blank experience." Ask any marketing executive at any of these companies and they will say the same. Some customers expect more and some expect less but the end goal is for everyone to have an excellent buying experience.

Good point ! Whether this is deserved or not really has nothing to do with it because we are talking about high end luxury items after all, You always pay more going through a dealer and there is a reason for that, Service !

I do think that you're over reacting a bit. I mean why go through all of the trouble to send a letter to the CEO or Rolex HQ? That seems a little petty especially since you just think the atmosphere wasn't good. It's not like they denied you of anything I.e seeing the watch, shrugging you off etc. If you felt that the service wasn't adequate for type of establishment that provides the product or service you're buying then simply go somewhere else where the service meets the "standards" you're looking for. If you really want the watch simply go back, purchase it and no longer do business with said establishment. Or try to track down another watch similar to the one you're interested in.

As others have said, vote with your [currency].

I had a bad experience at my local AD and ended up buying at an AD 40 miles away... in a mall... but it was an exceptional experience.

You are right. It is not our job to remind them. Giving them an opportunity to make the situation right is all I'm saying.

Haha. Glad I came back to this thread.

Comments like these are why rolex wearers often get such a bad reputation.

It's not surprising at all.

Seriously? you cant think of a good reason to buy at an AD other than being pampered and not pouring your own drinks?

-Some people like shopping for a watch in stead of ordering online.
-warranty, authentic, mail issues
-availability etc

If you are expecting a kings treatment, fine. But Then don't pay if the service is not good in your eyes, and find another dealer.

Hit them where it hurts, make sure everyone knows how poorly you got treated and hope they miss out on future business. You should be picketing in front of their store. Complain that you were not treated like royalty.

To be fair though, Sam, wouldn't you expect the store's manager to have already addressed the lightbulbs/dust?
It sounds to me, as if the problem stems from having a manager with a lackadaisical attitude, which has rubbed off on the staff.

Writing to Rolex is kind of pointless as the stores are independent they just buy watches from Rolex

Rolex can only take their AD away which they wont do based on this
