I think this watch grants its wearer immortality, though, so it should be a wash.

Congrats. Yes 4 is not good at all, but 8 is excellent in Asia, I try and get number 8 on all my limited edition/production pieces, but it is usually incredibly difficult in Asia!

So one should avoid serial 444 on any offshore 44 LEs?

Do you think having an 8 makes them easier to flip in Asia?

Absolutely. We Chinese are a superstitious lot especially if it means death or the loss of money which might as well be death. Ironically I may be the only Asian in history on record who asked for a specific number on my watch with a 4 in it.

For sure. I have had a couple of people very keen to take my RM39 off my hands when I showed them it is number 008.

I got my 26401RG at AP Boutique because of the 880 serial where I could have gotten at least 10% less at AD, so yeah, some of us love lots of 8s in Asia and is willing to pay a slight premium for it.

Strictly speaking, not entirely correct. 4 if combine with 8, such as 48 is actually a good number, because it means "seh fa" in Cantonese which translate to continuous prosperity. So like 1648 is actually very auspicious which means continuous prosperity all the way .

I would please point me to the AD quick Hublot 1000m CF #1648, the year the 30 Years' war ended although on this board maybe it's just begun.

AD contacted me yesterday and told me the # (gave them 2 choices either or) they promised me, are no longer available and hence they are prepared to reimburse me my down payment with a special invitation to fly us in to Singapore for the up coming F1 event all inclusive. So turn out to be bittersweet but sure great customer services.

Sorry to disappoint those who enticipanting an incoming tread. ... J.

Wow, huge disappointment. Are you really going to pass on the watch because of the number on it?? Well, that is a shame.

Enjoy F1.

That has to be disappointing. It's also kind of interesting how important the number is to some people.

That is fantastic customer service though!

Why do you refer yourself as "we" and why are people referring you as "they".

here in Australian the car number plate 888 is worth more than number 1. remember Ducati bought out that motorbike called the 888.
I haven't even looked at the serial on my watches but ill go look now.

On the contrary I'd love a watch numbered 13, in France we consider friday the 13 to bring luck, in the US I know they don't have 13th floor in many buildings, they number it 14

so what about 544? Bad luck as I get it? My CE diver has it, but in any case I love it as I got it for my birthday and I had just turned 44, of course if I start to get numerous cataclysms in my life might think twice

But I know that chinese and many asians are very superstitious, as well as russians and ukrainians, in Odessa it's incredible, you can't give or receive money when it's night, or take out the trash, and many many other things, took me some time to get used to this but here all people follow these principles

So reading this this thread about lucky numbers on watches was really intriguing and made me curious about the number on my new AP Anthracite...
Turns out there is an 8 in it, and better still the number is 518...
Ran a google search and seems 518 is a very lucky number to have cause it reads "I will prosper"
Wow!!! Would not even have known this had it not been for this thread ;-)
