I'm a relatively young guy and I say no. I might even wear it with a suit myself but it's not ideal.
Yes, I think the whole idea of wearing whatever you like is fine, but a nice dress watch on a leather strap that matches your belt and shoes will always be better with a suit. A dive watch is probably the opposite of what should be worn with a suit.

Indeed. I can understand someone wearing a Sub (occasionally) with a suit if it's a deliberate anti-fashion statement...I.e. I once saw a dapper sales guy rocking an LV Sub. The green aluminum bezel / dive watch clashed with his suit and tie in a way that almost worked. However, regardless of who wears a dive watch with a suit - Prince William and Harry usually get trotted out about now - it's still a bit silly. Would you wear running shoes with a suit? Flippers? A rugby shirt / tie? Doubtful... Would you wear a black ascot with a polo shirt? Not likely. Again, formal dress has some convention...but in the end, it's only a watch and people will do what they will. Most of our recent / current presidents wore casios with suits while in office - so they weren't judged harshly. I think you'd have to look back to LBJ to see a President being worn by a President. Even that watch could be considered a "sport" watch ;-) Bottom line, a Sub with a suit will look goofy to some and won't register at all with non-WIS or folks who just don't pay attention. Enjoy! |

Dumb question but would you think of this as a dress or a sport watch considering the size?

I wear my sub-c everyday with my suit. I'm still in the market for a classier leather banded watch to wear, but you can't go wrong with the Sub.

New twist on an old question.. SubC with a suit?
I think there is plenty of factors to consider, before agreeing or disagreeing (occasion). A suit, is just a formal attire, in an office for example it's not a big deal to wear a Sub C. Most likely is you, in your office facing a computer, most places require suits as part of their dress code; now if you are attending a formal event (gala or wedding, etc) I agree a leather strap is more suited for the event.
So back to the question a Sub C on a Suit? of course! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
