This post is so sincere, very true my friend, I cringe at the corny nicknames and think they're way worse than "Rollie"...Plus that watch is fake as hell...Show me the receipts, "$80,000.00 Rollie"

The exception is if the place name is of Spanish origin; then you drop the "o" before adding "an." This observed rule appears to work in practice. Idaho and Chicago derive from Native American languages, not Spanish, and their residents are Idahoans and Chicagoans. San Francisco comes from Spanish, and thus San Franciscans reside there. Residents of other realms with Spanish names are Mexicans and Puerto Ricans. Since Colorado is a Spanish word for the color red, we are properly Coloradans, not Coloradoans. -Denver Post

I'm a Coloradoan.

I'm okay with following formal rules, but the informal rules are for the birds. Some say it's irresponsible and rebellious, I say its a good time.

Bingo! Not my thing, but then again neither are a lot of watches I see here. I'm sure people laugh at me putting an $8,000 watch in a $10 NATO.
Whatever floats your boat

Here is a better picture of a Sky D, just like the one mentioned.

As far as his watch goes, its not something I would want or wear, but he has a right to spend his money on what moves him, just like the rest of us.

Rolex Culture 101 continued...are excessively blinged-out Rolexes more of a cultural expression amongst people of color...an individual statement to showcase their success? personal tastes aside, a clean, straightforward oyster perpetual speaks volumes on/of its own.

as far as pet names are concerned, I've always associated 'Rollei' with Rolleiflex (2-1/4"x2-1/4") film cameras.

regarding city/state nicknames...some folks around 'the city' detest the word 'Frisco' in reference to San Francisco. to them, it is a derogatory term used exclusively by outsiders. BFD...Texas has a Frisco & I vaguely recall the Hell's Angels SF chapter using it on their patches back in the late 60's.

perceived culture is in the eye of the observer.

^ THIS. We all have our own vocabulary and the right to use it.

WRT the watch...when dating in high school a friend's mom gave me some advice when I was telling her I was having trouble finding the right girl and that was...

"There's a lid out there for every trash can"

Never did figure out if I was the lid or the trash can.

I completely agree.

As for the watch, it's ruining the tats, and they're bad enough!

let me get this straight...so wearing an ostentatious, blinged-out Rolex effectively conveys that story. to whom?

That watch is not close to the one in the picture. The yellow diamonds in the center links are at least one carat each. Your example shows none.

Insulting people that customize their watch with diamonds isn't what this forum should be used for.

It's the same old "stop liking things I don't like" mentality.

Actually, I'm having second thoughts about that watch.

Maybe this thread needs to be moved.
Aqib Talib enjoys the finer things in life, like wrist watches worth as much as a small home in middle-of-nowhere America.

The Denver Broncos cornerback showed off his iced-out Rolex to reporters at media day for Super Bowl 50, which was generously shared with the world by ESPN.com's Mike Sando on Monday.

According to Sando, Talib even has a special name for his watch: "$80,000 Rolley."

The art of subtlety.

Exactly. There's no rhyme or reason, it's a classic double standard. If "Rollie" is a cardinal sin, then why isn't "Bluesy"? And Hulk, Smurf, Kermit....they're all far worse and yet the cadre' of self-appointed Brand Defenders out there don't dog-pile on everyone using those lame nicknames.
