That is quite a collection!

It appears the idea of a Grail should be defined a bit better.

IMHO, a Grail is not something you can attain.

Or maybe it is currently so far beyond reach that it will take quite the journey to get it.

My thoughts anyway.

Grail of all Explorers!

And I certainly agree that a grail should be something next to impossible to get.

Any DD40 would work for me ... but is very unlikely to happen considering I'm nearing the middle of my eighth decade and I'm not expecting any windfalls.

Holy Grail (not reasonably attainable):
Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon

Grails (semi-attainable):
- BLRO
- Smurf
- ALS Dato/1815 chrono
- ALS RL Jump Seconds

216570, black dial.

Beyond that, I don't know. PP Nautilus or a VC dress piece maybe.

Totally agree...

All it takes is money to obtain any modern Rolex.....some much more $$$ than others, but it's still just a matter of money.

Now these?

Maybe one day...

Maybe one day I'll be able to acquire my grail.

Maybe one day, I'll be grown-up enough.

I'll be secure enough.

I'll be confident enough.

I'll be wise enough.

Maybe one day I'll be able to understand why I keep wanting anything more than quiet, understated class. Maybe one day I'll be so grown-up, so secure, so confident and so wise that I will know that the only reason I haven't been able to obtain my grail is because I haven't progressed enough to know it is my grail.

Maybe, one day, I'll outgrow the constant yearning, and pass all my watches to my loved ones and go out and buy my grail.

When that day comes, I will have arrived. I will, (like the black-belt martial artist who understands that in order to advance any further he must once again don the white belt), understand that not having my grail was never a matter of insufficient money, but of insufficient maturity.

One day... when I'm wise enough...
