Forgive me if I missed it in an earlier post but was a police report filed? I'd also report it to RSC so if it shows up there they will know it's stolen.
Ps. To the fellow with the off color remark. Bad form. This is my happy place. We don't need that kind of negativity. Great job by HL65 giving him the boot. And thank you for keeping this forum so awesome. to all the mods.

Lol. Anyone could buy this watch downtown. Wholesale on a Skydweller with no box or papers to a slutty desperate chick is about 20k

I bet she'd take $5000 to get it off her hands. Maybe less.

Hmm...an interesting, and at times, entertaining thread to read.

Hope the owner gets his watch back and the young (lady?) gets what she deserves. With the details provided, I would think you could track her down.

Good luck,

The most common reason for refusing a watch claim is when someone goes swimming and leaves the watch hidden under a towel on the beach and someone steals it.

Most people do not realise this and suffer as a result.

In the UK, leaving your door or window unlocked will almost certainly invalidate any claim for theft because the insurance company would argue that the theft took place because you made it very easy to be burgled and the risk is based on you taking adequate care of your security.

The guy in question may be able to argue that he is fully insured if the watch is stolen in the same room that he is sleeping in. However the insurance company will almost certainly argue that inviting an unknown woman into his room is reckless behaviour, more so if she is a prostitute. The fact that the watch is lying in an unprotected position whilst he is asleep, loads the case heavily in their favour.

It is not clear cut by any means, but he certainly is going to have a fight on his hands.

Mick
Vastly different in the US.
As another poster mentioned, this loss would be covered here.
SPP policies, or "floaters" as many refer to, are all risk policies.
Covers anything, even mysterious disappearance. The most common applied exclusion would be fraud or an intentional act to destroy item.
As an example, my wife carelessly left her Rolex on the kitchen counter, with tile flooring around it.
As luck would have it, fell on the floor and destroyed the Crystal, dial and hands. She was fully covered for the repairs.

As we lovingly/jokingly say in the insurance claims industry (not intended as any insult relative the OP's friend), stupidity is covered.

DAMN!!!!!

Keep looking on Craigslist and Ebay and Pawnshops.

Also make sure Rolex knows the serial number so it can be identified as stolen.

This will one day be flagged....

Devil's Advocate here, she would argue it was payment for services rendered and the owner got cold feet in the morning. The courtroom would be packed if it ever got that far

Sad how the state of our world has come to this.

The need to insure everything is getting ridiculous. I know insurance is 'cheap' in the US but not so in other parts of the world. It's pretty high in some areas that after a few years of paying the premiums, you could actually go out and buy a new SS Rolex.

It's not just naive 'randy dudes' in bars being targeted. Last summer it was reported that a watch industry insider (on vacation in NYC) stupidly took a girl back to his hotel room, was drugged, and had a $600,000 watch stolen out of his unlocked room safe. Similar stories (on a less extreme level) have continued to be reported over the last 6-8 months here in the States. It's getting to be a cottage industry. Drugging, robbery, and organized theft rings are going way beyond bad 'one night stands'. Hopefully our heroic, well-respected law enforcement professionals are working to get these ladies (and whoever is behind them) off the streets.

Not that we like fakes but this would be a good time to have one for them to steal and then maybe just maybe when they go on an sell it they would get busted.

If it truly is a organized theft ring,It won't be sold to your corner Pawn Shop. They work with high end Fence's that sell directly to Consumers. The person who buys the Watch may have no idea it's stolen until they send it for service.

I was able to get in touch with Hyde restaurant , fortunately they keep their videos for a year. Now I will have to push the detectives to go over the videos. I will have a picture of this b..ch all over the Internet . I will not give up until she's caught. To make things more interesting, I will offer a $5000 reward for anyone who could give me a lead to either get her or the watch. Guys, if you have nothing to do on your spare time, search the pawn shops for me as I'm acting alone on this. Thank you

I didn't mean so much as busted selling a fake watch but hoping she/he gets busted up by a bigger fish for trying to pass a fake as a genuine item

Plaster her face in an old school WANTED poster with the reward shown. I did this a few years ago and caught my perp.

If you can put the poster in a local free paper even better.

Look her up on facebook using the name you have.

Craigslist the story.

The more this gets out in your community the greater the chance you get your watch back.

Your friend isn't involved in the recovery process? Is he putting up the reward?
