Can polishing remove the plating without destroying the watch?

You guys need to remember that Mr. Plating didn't buy the watch - it was a bequest. He probably has no idea what it is truly worth - or rather, what it was worth before he ruined it.

it's the TRF threads often start with some witty or dry humour, like I hate Rolex and then you open the thread and it's something like I hate taking it off to sleep

it's very amusing have not witnissed that much on other forums. TRF is very first world problems for lack of a better phrase

Most people have no idea. He probably thought a gold plated one is nicer and more money so he wanted his to look like this. Lets say he realizes what he has done and want to remove this "Plating" would that be possible without destroying the watch? Did you actually tell him how exclusive stainless daytonas are?

Reminds me of the kid who's uncle died and left behind a one year old S Class Benz. He lowered it. Put neon lights under it. Put big ghetto chrome rims on it. It was sad to look at.

Not to worry. It will only require a rattle can of silver paint will set it right again.

Not what I was expecting...but his watch he can do what he wants with it. Kind of a shame but not everyone is into watches the way some of us are.

I was expecting something worse. Not something I would do. To each their own.

What would you have said if his wife had been "modified"?
Sometimes it better just to smile and say, "pass the wine please".
