I say no. The 116619 is a beauty. I love it. The 116655 is an awesome watch and its on my radar. But not to replace the 116619.

I love rubber straps on watches think they make the watch look very sporty.

Was interested in the Ym rg but when i tried it on thought it looked very dull with the matt black finish and for that money would rather own an Ap.

There was big waiting lists for this watch but i don't think it is selling well.

A local dealer told me he had twenty people on the waiting list but everybody that tried the watch did not want it.

Such a beautiful piece the smurf. If anything i would go for the yellow gold blue sub. That rose gold looks awesome too and certainly is something different for you.

I do not like Rose gold. It seems a bit of a Fad to me and a bit Feminine. I also do not like the Yacht master watch in general. The Smurf is beautiful imo. This is all my opinion please do not take offence.

WG Sub for me...

The interaction of the lugs and rubber band just kill the YM for me.

Look, people are saying financially it doesn't make sense, same price used for rubber vs. all gold. That is technically correct. But who can be technical in this hobby of emotional choices. I pick the ym case/dial vs. the blue. I owned a smurf and the blue was too much for me to like in bright or outdoor lighting. I'm on board if you want to make this switch. Your wrist, not anyone's here.

I don't own either of these, or even a Rolex, but I will give you my thoughts:

1. The Smurf looks spectacular in photos. I've seen/held one a bunch of times, and in person I haven't been as impressed. Something about that blue doesn't tickle me the right way, in person.

2. I think the Yachtmaster looks spectacular in person. The color of the rose gold and the matte finish on the bezel really work together, for me.

3. Aren't the two comparable in price? I thought they are both about 25k. Practically speaking, I think the YM is way too pricey for what you get. I personally might be interested in picking one up pre-owned.

They are both fantastic. There are no wrong choices here, just choices.

I would not do it personally, but the only watch I could understand trading the 116619 for is the platinum Daytona.

If Rolex ever releases a platinum sub that would be the pinnacle in my opinion.

Do me a favor. Before you sell the smurf, get an Everest rubber and and install it.

Get a good feel for it, wear it for a month and then decide.

Ok just keep the damn Smurf ok. Don't sell!

Seriously, every time the OP starts a thread, it is always about the same thing. He is not happy with what is on his wrist and is chirping like "Flipper". SMH

Icon7 You guys are awesome...

Thanks for all your responses! Some of them were particularly funny, and let me tell you I feel the same way about it sometimes. It is a battle within my self and I'll tell you what I think.

I think it stems from Rolex being the first watch I have spent so much money on...I come from limited means, and to spend so much on a watch, I mean even the Sea-Dweller That I have, which is also a Ton of money, is just unthinkable.

I have been wearing both and thoroughly enjoy it!, I think I look for reasons to sell or flip, but really deep down, I don't want to. I think I should sell it and put the money in the bank and save save save...you know for a rainy day.

I love the Smurf. It is subtle indoors, and bright and awesome outdoors. It really has so many different personalities. It truly is an amazing piece. i can do a whole thread on it!

I thought initially, I would trade both the 116619 and the 116600 for the RG YM, and then I could have just one sporty watch, but almost all of you were right. That rubber band does not support it's 20K asking price. I mean just look at the 16622. 5-6k is what they are going for, and they were like 12k at the AD. Also, the rubber strap doesn't fill in the end-link area. That really bugs me for whatever reason they did it for. I still may add a RG YM, but at around $13k...lol

I will have to still battle myself until I am able to wear nice watches without worry. Thanks for being the Big Brother...

Coming from someone who owns the 116622 (YM Rolesium), loves the RG YM and was taken aback by the bold move from Rolex at Baselworld with the 2 new gorgeous YMs (I'm a YM fan in case you didn't notice), I would not get rid of the Smurf.

The Smurf is above the RG YM in terms of sheer iconic presence. I suspect that when the RG YM novelty wears off, you'll realise how irreplaceable and timeless the Smurf is. It's in a different league. It's a classic.

Not to mention that the RG YM lacks a proper RG strap.

The RG YM is a fashionista's watch. The Smurf is a connoisseur's timepiece.

Can you not trade any other piece but the Smurf?

Smurf is classic and timeless, rg ym is cool but doesn't really compare. Hold out, maybe flip your ss sea dweller plus cash for the ym.
