The datejust is a beautiful watch. It was my first Rolex, a two tone with black dial and stick markers. I then purchased a YG president DD, and then traded them both in for the RG president DD. Great classic looking watch, but my first one had a smooth bezel. That's why I think I got over it so fast. Would've rather had a fluted bezel.

It's great to be proud of your watch and want to share it with others, but no need to put down another watch while doing so. There are many members here who have and love the DJII and also love the DJ36, it's all good.
Btw, I do believe the proportions on the DJII are fine, it's a matter of taste. You really should try one for a few days and I'm sure you'll agree.

I'm in the market for a 36mm Datejust. I've been told from a reliable source that a desirable version (subjective, of course) is the one the OP has - 36mm, ss, white face, Roman numerals, fluted bezel, jubilee band. Do any of you Datejust enthusiasts agree? I'm disposed towards the same watch, but with a domed bezel and oyster band. Any thoughts welcomed.

Understood, but you cannot be told by a reliable source which watch YOU like the best!

That's the watch I like the best, but wondering if that's considered a classic combination.

Classic Rolex - if I had to choose, I would get the 36mm, silver dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. So nice!

Received mine as a wedding gift and it's the watch that started it all for me. It certainly has a lot of presence every time I wear it. A must have in any collection!

I would have to agree. I went through three other Rolexs, including a white stick DJII before I settled on this perfect beauty. Goes great with my SubC.

I was wearing a suit this weekend and my 16234 rests comfortably under my cuff.
36mm is indeed magical, a peep of the WG fluted bezel is perfection.

Love the Datejust best watch I have ever owned. Love how it easily hides under a shirt cuff but still has presence.
