If that is not to your liking, then heck yeah. Why not? You only live once.

And you can't take your money with you. Its not like you are taking a loan out to pay for a watch that you cant afford. You are simply swapping something of higher value to get something else first.

Time is worth money. So if you have more time with the DC, that has value.

I say go for it.
I tend to agree. Gold does not always mean superior.

A lot of folks have said no, so I will add, "Hell No". Wait a while if you want that watch, which I don't think is so great compared to other chronos out there. But, in this forum I am in the minority on that point.

Who is to blame for this Daytona madness?

I've been wondering if it's the blogs like hodinkee with their absolutely ridiculous article? Consumers? Rolex marketing?

I really like the new Daytona compared to the previous one, but I just don't understand the hysteria.

It's literally the same watch with ceramic that has been available on gold Daytonas in the past and a slight dial change.

Maybe I just don't get it.

I'm to blame for Daytona madness. Been waiting a long time for a change to black bezel and more readable dial. Yes, it is worth more than MSRP- proof is in the resale values.. And I think Rolex had a roll out plan- float a few to many dealers for increased hype then scale back the roll out to keep demand high. So respectfully you don't get it but the thousands of us on lists and hundreds with it in hands do. Now the Yeezy boots, I do not get....

As for the OP, I personally am not a flipper so I would hold it until I could buy the D-C too. Watches tell a story and I bet that gold watch of yours has a story or two.

Everyone assumes USD prices and forgets that those prices change elsewhere in the world. Where I am, $15k. If you can't afford both you need to make a decision: keep the gold watch and add stories or go after the D-C and start new ones.

Watching the Daytona C madness very happily sitting on my couch with my Y/G DD 40 on. These threads are fun during the tv commercials.

I think Gold and Platinum are about to Pop despite downward pressure. I have a price target on Gold at about 1500-1800 per ounce and Platinum at 1500-2400 per ounce. But the Daytona C might appreciate right away and over a longer time span. I don't know if either of those points will really affect your enjoyment which I would value paramount in this transaction.

Have you worn 904L steel? Personally I like the way gold feels more than 904L.

If the Gold Daytona is on a bracelet, maybe 1.8x...so no I wouldn't do that trade - I'd do what some have already said - sell the Gold Daytona now and buy the 500 when you can lay hands on one.

No, it was not. It was based on numbers, what is worth the watch a i have, and the price for a new Daytona C. But have to agree with everyone, is not a good deal.

Thanks for your opinion.

In Brazil everything is more expensive (high importing tax), this watch can reach 20k at AD, no premium.

Thanks!

I would but I generally do not wear yellow gold anymore. Still have one on strap and two vintage pieces but I am a silver tone guy.
