Someone who would work on the sea is a mariner (mar-in-er).
Therefore if you were working under the sea, you would be a submariner, (sub-mar-in-er).
Once you got back to shore, you might dock at the marina, (mar-een-a).
This establishes that a place of work at sea would be a marina (mar-een-a)
therefore if your place of work were under the sea it would be a submarine, (sub-mar-een).
Do we all have that???

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my father years ago.
He's from South Carolina, but I grew up in Denver and later Dallas.
He calls them pea-cans. I call them peh-cons.
We fight about this every thanksgiving over pie.

That's hilarious. Hey, down here in the South we have pea-can pie AND peh-con pie, and I like both!

Indeed (although it's "Audemars Piguet" and not "Audemars-Piquet").

It is. Copied and pasted it from a list of a well known watch website who thus have it wrong as well. What a blunder

The fact that this discussion is even on the table is appauling.

I am shocked that even Rolex owners are having trouble pronouncing this properly. Obviously, affluence has no relationship to being literate and educated.

Sell that Rolex and pay for your tuition at a respectable school.
No point in owning a Rolex if you can't pronounce it properly !

Your English professor would be so proud. Maybe you should ask for your money back because I think they left out a few lessons.

But pique seems so much more elegant than a pig, even one with a happy ending.

WHOA! This coming from one whose spellings still need "tuition at a respectable school"!!!

Let's just call it SUBBY and be over with this thread once and for all!!
