I consider a watch more interesting than my face! Well... whatever you fix in a pic is more interesting than my face!

A. I am WAY too ugly

B. I would rather have one up there of my in-life hero, Jocke (that's who that is)

C. See answer A.

I used to have my photo there, then one of the former members went psycho and I had second thoughts about having it there. It's been gone since.

I used my avatar to display my watch to a virtual Rolex community. People can tell more about my taste in watches from a pic of one of mine than they could my face i'd imagine.

Privacy. One photo that identifies you on the web is enough to identify you in any picture that exists on the web. Think of someone taking a crowd shot at a stadium. Software can identify who you are and that you were there.

It's Orwellian, but I work in this industry and I realize that the concept of privacy is soon to be obsolete due to the web and ubiquitous cameras in public life. I prefer to delay that inevitable day as long as possible. Governments can already do this.....private sector is not far behind. Imagine the targeted marketing opportunities.

Privacy. People can be identified using various public data like usernames, email addresses, product habits (e.g. on a BMW forum and own a BMW), etc... So I would prefer to take one major link out of the whole process.

Plus, online stuff allows some degree of freedom, so I would rather show an interest (in my case, photography) that says more about me than just a picture of myself.

Don't feel bad.
This is an Avatar.
You make one by starting with about $300 million, a bunch of computers and a lame script.
